Deborra-Lee Furness, who was married to Hugh Jackman for nearly 30 years, has finally broken her silence on their divorce as the papers are being finalized.
The two separated in 2023
Hugh Jackman, 56, and Deborra-Lee Furness, 69, got married in 1996 and with 27 years of marriage and two kids between them, they announced their amicable separation in 2023.
Now that the divorce papers are finalized, Furness has finally opened up about the whole thing.
She said the split was a ‘deep’ cut
Describing her separation from Jackman, Furness said it was “a profound wound that cuts deep.”
In a statement to the Daily Mail on Tuesday, May 27, the Australian actress said, “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal.”
This comes among cheating rumors
Furness’ statement on her experience with “betrayal” comes amid a previous flurry of rumors that Jackman had cheated on Furness with his current girlfriend Sutton Foster, as per the publication.
Furness believes things will get better
The Australian actress added, “However I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”
“This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage,” she added.
The experience has made her empowered
The producer and philanthropist went on to say of her marriage and divorce, “I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.”

“It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom,” Furness told the publication.
She also added that the “one thing” she has learned is “that none of this is personal.”

She said, “We are all on our individual journeys and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random. We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves…I remain grateful.”
