While we’re all human and therefore make mistakes, it seems like some mistakes are a little worse than others . Some, in fact, can get you fired from your job .
In the case of this TikTok user, though, it seems like you can get fired for a mistake that someone else made . The user, who goes by Mar ( @ughmar ), posted her story recently.
In her TikTok, Mar talks about how her job fired her because of something she didn’t do.

In the TikTok, which she captions “fyi my beef is w the super higher up not anyone at my restaurant, they had my back and tried to keep me,” Mar is clearly frustrated over how the situation unfolded.
Mar, who until last week worked as a server for a restaurant, got fired because a customer alleged he was overcharged for his tip.

“Last Tuesday a guest left me a generous tip… if you got a tip that was over 40% you had to bring it to the manager and the manager’s the one that puts it in,” she said.
She then says that her manager signed off on the tip, and she took it.
Then, sometime later, she gets called into a meeting with management and higher ups who tell her that the man who left the tip called, saying “‘Oh I didn’t mean to leave that, I only left $20, that has to be forged.'”
At that point, the higher ups sided with the customer and decided to fire Mar.

But Mar also had a picture of the check, which shows that the total was $109.78, and the customer left a $102.78 tip, making the grand total $212.56.
Many people sided with Mar over the matter.

One commenter wrote, “Talk to a lawyer. It might seem extra but this is wrongful termination. You clearly did everything right.”
Another said, “The manager literally approved it??? They can look up the security video too.”
But others had a hard time believing that Mar was in the right.

“I think at the bottom it’s a one not a two. But I do also think that he lied about leaving a $20 tip,” a commenter said.
Many commenters believed that the tip was supposed to be around $2, with some believing that Mar herself forged the receipt.
Mar tried responding to some of the comments she was getting.

In response to somebody commenting that she forged the numbers herself, Mar wrote, “I would never steal. why would I put my job on the line, then make a TikTok about it?” Which is a pretty fair point.
She later posted a second TikTok addressing some of these comments.
In it, it’s pretty clear that, regardless of what tip amount the guest had allegedly meant to leave, there was absolutely no way it was supposed to be $20.
She also explains why she thought the guest would’ve left such a generous tip to begin with.
During her time serving the table (which consisted of an older man and who Mar believed to be his granddaughter), they connected really well, and she thought he might’ve been extra nice after learning Mar is planning on going to law school (which is what the granddaughter is doing).
That being said, many commenters are still convinced the totals were altered in some way.

Though, most believe that Mar wasn’t the one who did this.
A commenter wrote, “I 100% wouldn’t be surprised if his granddaughter changed it cuz he probably left 2.78 and she said F that and changed it explaining the diff [numbers].”
Some people were still sure that Mar got caught in a lie, though.
She posted one more TikTok showing the difference between her own handwriting, and the writing seen on the receipt. Whether the total was adjusted later on or not, it’s pretty clear Mar had nothing to do with it.
