Good afternoon Netflix lovers (AKA everyone). I’ve got some great news for you! Netflix is leveling up, adding a new feature to their service called “Top Ten”.
If you are a human being with a functioning TV and internet service, then there is a fairly good chance that you have a Netflix account, or you use somebody else’s.
It might not have every movie or TV show that you want to watch, but let’s face it, it’s still useful af.

And lately, as they rake in money, they’ve really been stepping up their game.
There are more Netflix originals than ever before, and even more to come.
Unfortunately, with so much content being added, it can be overwhelming to find the quality of movie or TV show you’re looking for.
That being said, Netflix just launched a new feature that could help eliminate that problem for many of us.
Instead of sifting through hundreds of titles, trying to figure out what’s been generating the most buzz, Netflix is offering a new method of browsing.
Enter: The “Top Ten” feature.
This newly added row on Netflix’s homepage will be accessible to users around the globe, and will be updated daily.
There will be a separate row for Movies and TV shows, indicating the top ten most popular titles in the country on that day.
Additionally, any titles branded as being in the top ten that day will be given a top ten badge in the upper corner of the cover art.
This way, if you stumble upon the title in another row, you’ll know that it is also on the official top ten list .
“Shows and films that make these lists will also have a special ‘Top 10’ badge, wherever they appear on Netflix,” said Cameron Johnson, Product Innovation at Netflix.
“That way you can easily see what’s in the zeitgeist, whether you’re browsing by genre or through your personal list – or when searching for specific shows or films.”
“This new row – complete with its own special design – will enable you to see what is most popular on Netflix in your country.”
“It will be updated every day and the position of the row will vary depending on how relevant the shows and films are to you,” he wrote .
“We’re constantly looking for ways to make Netflix better,” he went on.
“It’s why we’ve been experimenting with top 10 lists in Mexico and the UK for the last six plus months.”
“Members in both countries have found them useful, so we are now rolling them out to even more,” he continued.
“When you watch a great movie or TV show, you share it with family and friends”.
“Or talk about it at work, so other people can enjoy it too.”
“We hope these top 10 lists will help create more of these shared moments”.
But as you can see from this tweet, not everyone feels the way Netflix does.
“While also helping all of us find something to watch more quickly and easily,” he concluded.
Well, if you’re looking to watch what’s popular, this feature will certainly help speed your search along.
The feature is creating a lot of skepticism with folks on Twitter. This new feature is meant to reflect the most popular titles pertaining to viewership.
Netflix used to only consider a “view” to be when somebody gets through at least 70% of a movie or show.
That, however, has recently changed.
Now, Netflix considers the two-minute mark of any piece of content to count as a view.
So, it’s hard to say whether or not these “Top Ten” lists are going to be extremely accurate or not, if they’re solely based off of Netflix’s own metrics.
