Acting legend Kirk Douglas has hit a huge milestone in his life today by celebrating his 103rd birthday. The actor, known for his roles in Spartacus, 20 000 Leagues Under The Sea, Lonely Are The Brave, and Paths of Glory alongside tons of others, has truly made a lasting mark on cinema and popular culture.
Douglas has been given an honorary Oscar for 50 years as a creative and moral force in the motion picture community.
He’s also scored three separate Best Actor nominations over the course of career, alongside Golden Globes, Emmys, and a SAG Lifetime Achievement Award.
He’s also the father of actor Michael Douglas and producer Joel Douglas.
Friends, family, and fans took to social media to celebrate Douglas’ birthday.
Douglas’ daughter-in-law, Catherine Zeta Jones, shared this photograph, captioned, “This guy on my knee, is 103!!!!! Happy Birthday Pappy!!! I love you with all my heart.”
Michael Douglas shared a couple of posts with a lot to celebrate.
“Happy birthday Dad! You are a living legend and your entire family sends you all the love in their hearts!” he wrote, alongside this adorable shot.
He also took the time to celebrate his Golden Globe nomination.
He captioned this shot, “12.9.2019 what a great day! Thank you to the HFPA for the @GoldenGlobes nomination, and for making my Dad proud on his 103rd birthday!”
Douglas’ grandon, actor Cameron Douglas, also shared a touching message.
Alongside this shot, he wrote, “Happy Birthday Pappy…you are a gift to the world; a guiding light and source of inspiration to me. I Love you. #103 to #infinity.”

Michael Douglas, however, recently revealed that his father did not want a big celebration this year, saying , “Okay, so he was 100. Big birthday, big birthday. The trouble is, when you’re 100, you don’t really want a big birthday. I threw a big party for him, it was great.”
Michael explained he had thrown another party for his father’s 101st and 102nd birthdays.
Michael playfully explained that by this year, “He’s begging me, he’s got tears down his eyes. ‘Let’s just have dinner, the family together. Bring the kids.’”
It looks like he got exactly what he wanted!

Many pointed out how amazing it is for Kirk to be doing so well in his second century of life! I can only hope I’m accomplishing that much when I’m 103.
