Beauty and skin care products is a big business since many women will buy just about anything if it promises good results. But don’t be fooled by some of these claims. Many of them have very little proof and could even be completely wrong for you.
So you may actually be throwing your money away. Here’s a list of beauty products you should think twice about buying before you get suckered into it.
1. Facial Toner
A toner can be found in many skin care routines. But did you know that some of them can actually end up drying out your skin?
2. Makeup Remover
I, too, got suckered into buying a gentle makeup remover only to find out that a cleanser will clean your skin better. Now it makes total sense.
3. Pore Strips
I hate to burst your bubble but those super satisfying pore cleansing strips don’t actually remove anything below the skin’s surface. They’re a total waste of money.
4. Anti-Dandruff Shampoo
Apparently, all these shampoos really do is just dry out your scalp which can lead to more dandruff. I knew these didn’t work! So happy I stopped using them.
5. Shaving Cream
Okay, I admit I love my fancy shaving cream. But I can just save my money by using a regular conditioner or a body lotion. Got it!
6. Foot Or Elbow Cream
There’s no formulation that will work better for different parts of your body. So just use your regular body lotion and you’ll do just fine.
7. Exfoliating Scrubbing Brushes
These expensive exfoliating scrubbing brushes are all the craze these days, but they will have very little effect for such a high price.
8. Miracle Creams
There are so many super expensive creams out there that claim to fix anything under the sun. But most of them just over-hype their results, so beware.
9. Eyelash Primer
If there ever was a product that’s a total waste of money this one is it. You don’t need to prime your lashes. Just stick to mascara and an eyelash curler!
10. Oil Blotting Sheets
I definitely don’t want all that shiny excess oil on my face but there’s no need to buy these sheets. Just use a tissue instead.
11. Lip Exfoliators
These special treatments are pretty much useless and can even strip too much skin of off your delicate lip area. Just use good ol’ lip balm instead.
12. Cellulite Cream
Ah, cellulite, it’s like a dirty word when you’re a woman. We all hate it. But unfortunately, studies can’t confirm that cellulite creams actually work. Better to just embrace it!
If you need more proof, one review for a cellulite removal cream on Sephora said , “I have been applying it two times a day for about 3 weeks and it has done NOTHING.” There ya go.
13. Stretch Mark Cream
Similar to the cellulite cream claims, with stretch marks the problem lies under the skin so anything topical will likely just give you a temporary look.
14. Face Sheet Masks
While there’s a lot of hype surrounding sheet masks, there is no concrete evidence to support that they do anything more than scare the living daylights out of your friends and family.
15. Collagen Products
Yes, I, too, would like the bounciest and smoothest skin that my dreams never knew they needed.
Like many vitamins, collagen is another product that is far more complex than simply applying to the skin.
16. “Salon-Quality” Hair Products
We may think our locks are getting the care they need with higher-end products, but they may actually just be putting a bigger dent in your wallet than anything else.
17. Heat Shield Products for Hair
Anyone else feel like their hair feels worse after applying one of these products?
We unfortunately need td to face the facts. The only heat shield for hair is to not use heat at all.

Instead of purchasing a whole separate product dedicated to making eyeshadow last, use some concealer or face primer instead. It all does the same thing, really.
19. Anti-Aging Creams
Unless we become robots or vampires, our skin is going to age, and that’s just a fact of life. Keep nourishing your body and drink lots of water!
21. Coconut Oil
Please, hold your gasps and just hear me out for a moment.
Coconut oil still solves most of life’s problems, but if your skin already tends to be on the more oily side, it’s best to steer clear.
20. Teeth Whitening Products
If you’ve used teeth whitening products like trays or strips, you know how unpleasant they are. And to do that almost every day for many weeks?
It’s best to put that money aside and get it done by a professional.
22. Perfume
This is a hard one to swallow, but perfume is pretty pointless when you think about it. Many people are allergic to it and some even get headaches from smelling it.
We’d all have a few hundred dollars more if we didn’t care to smell like an English garden from 1800.
Holy crap! I have gotten fooled by some of these beauty products that seemed too good to be true.
