The word ‘discovery’ tends to invoke a feeling of something awe-inspiring. Archaeologists make discoveries, scientists , adventurers! The discoveries they make are grand, either changing how we see life or unveiling some great treasure.
Discoveries aren’t just for the bigshots, though, and sometimes they aren’t even all that great. This list shows a number of times that people made some discoveries in their everyday lives that maybe they wish they hadn’t.

With a mess like this, you’re better off just giving up. Sell your house, move to a new country, never trust another beanbag again as nothing they could ever say will get you to forgive them for the chaos they brought to your previous home.

By washing your aprons, all you’ve done is create a mass eldritch horror of the cooking variety. Everyone bow done before the great apron demon god of oven heat and stovetop flame!

Hold on, what kind of front door is this? This looks like the door to someone’s house. Did you just walk down the street and saunter up to a random home? A random home who’s definitely trying to chase you off with made-up government holidays.

At least you have an easy lead to the thief! They thought they could hide their negligence behind low-resolution, extremely pixelated images, but alas, we still see that open, empty envelope!

Or they saw this guy’s standup the night before and genuinely thought it was really good, but was just too shy to tell him in person! He had to let him know somehow, and what better way than a message he can’t miss?
“After several days without my glasses, an eye exam, and overnight shipping on new glasses; I found them tangled in a cable under my desk…”
Unfortunate for you, but a mistake I’m definitely willing to forgive. After all, how were you meant to find your lost glasses when you couldn’t see because you lost your glasses? It would be cruel to hold this against you.
“It’s apparently a skip day that I wasn’t aware of.”
At least you aren’t alone? I can’t actually tell if that’s the teacher or another student, but either way, at least you can expect a chill day out of it. I would have killed for a day like this in high school.
“Tried to charge my phone on a different outlet.”
That outlet really said, “If I can’t charge you, then nobody can! Plug yourself back in, it’s the only way you could dream of functioning now, ahahaha!”
It might be best to just shut that whole outlet down.

Perfect for people trying to cut down on carbs, awful for literally everybody else on planet earth.
Though, someone did say you could cool eggs in the middle, which sounds like the most delicious way to improve this situation.
“Went to turn on my AC today 1st time after winter.. thought I would check the tubes first… guess I [don’t] need my AC for a while…”
Whoa, that’s kinda cool! You’ll have a front row seat at watching these babies grow. Hopefully they’ll be out soon enough and you’ll get your AC back (after a thorough cleaning of that tube, of course).

Someone was feeling real spiteful toward pickle-haters today, dang! Pickle-haters in the world are needed so that we pickle-lovers can eat all their extra pickles whenever things like this happen, don’t hate on ’em!
“Heard a loud noise in my apartment last night. Had no idea what it was.. until I opened my freezer today. Found the 1.2L beer I forgot about.”
I’m sorry, how big was that beer? Why did you have a bottle that big? Why would you put it in the freezer? Also, why is there nothing but that and a bag of chips in there? I have so many questions.
“A wasp building its nest right on the edge of the fuel tank of my car… that I only noticed after I started pumping.”
Well, thankfully you found it quickly and all it’ll take to rid yourself of this problem is a swift flick. Then, of course, a mad dash back inside your car before the wasp regains its bearings.

“Couldn’t find my dog when I got home from work today, was worried she somehow got out. Turns out she locked herself in the bathroom and decided to redecorate.”
“This is our guide on my first ever turkey hunt. We haven’t seen a single turkey so far, not sure why.”
If you’re thinking to yourself, ‘wow, it looks like that guy’s sleeping’, it’s because he is, according to the uploader. “He’s supposed to be calling or otherwise helping us,” they wrote in a comment, their rage palpable through the screen.
“I’ve been looking for my lip balm for a week, only to hear some clicking sound today.”
If you can’t quite tell the context here, it’s spinning away in a washing machine. From the looks of it, though, it’s nestled itself in a nice little spot in the door, meaning it might still be okay when the cycle is done! Just a little soapy.
“Discovered kittens in my heating ducts.”
At least this discovery is a cute one? Definitely inconvenient still, I can only imagine how difficult they must have been to get out of there. At least you have a story to tell and got to pet some kittens!

The bag being rained on only adds to the emotion in this photo. I can perfectly feel the sense of hopelessness and sorrow that whoever purchased this meal must have felt. Oh, to never feel that sort of sorrow in my own life.

My only thought when looking at this was ‘how could this happen?’, and thankfully commenters felt the same way. When someone did ask, the uploader answered, “Tip the candle too far over trying to light a burned out wick.”
That still doesn’t quite answer it for me, but it’s better than nothing.
