You remember Crazy Hair Day at school, right?
You may have put some funky temporary dye in your hair, or got your parents to help you sport Pippi Longstocking braids.
But, what do you do when you don’t have any hair?
A seven-year-old shows us how you can still win Crazy Hair Day when you don’t have hair to make crazy.
This is seven-year-old Gianessa Wride of Salem, Utah.
She has a medical condition called alopecia which causes the hair to fall out in round patches.
Her mom, Daniella Wride, noticed her hair falling out while she was brushing her hair one morning.
Soon, her hair was completely gone.
Daniella, a nurse, believes Gianessa’s hair loss was triggered by immense stress from her grandmother’s death.
Understandably, it was very upsetting to both Daniella and her daughter, and Gianessa didn’t like wigs and scarves.
“It was upsetting to her,” Gianessa’s mother said. “and it was hard for me as well, but not because of what she looks like.”
She continued by saying:
“I was more upset thinking that somebody might bully my daughter and I didn’t want her to ever feel less beautiful than she is.”
So what did they do?
When Crazy Hair Day arrived, Daniella had the creative idea to adorn her daughter’s bald head in jewels and stickers to celebrate her baldness, instead.
She ended up winning “Crazy Hair Day,” and she totally deserved it! The jewels look awesome.
Gianessa told People , “I love being bald. I can do things to my head that other kids can’t.”
And Gianessa has the best thing to say about her situation.
“I’m thinking now it might be fun to decorate my head with some sparkly butterflies and flowers.”
For a seven-year-old, she sure has a great attitude about it all!
She is definitely inspiring others to learn to embrace their baldness, as well as working to normalize it for others who may not understand the condition.
