Game of Thrones is nearly at its end after an eight season run.
In that time, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have thrown in a lot of celebrity and musical cameos.
But if you don’t know who you’re looking for, you’re totally going to miss them!
David Benioff and Dan Weiss
Many are the faces that decorate the Faceless Men’s temples.
These two faces in particular belong to showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss.
Could Arya control her own fate if she took their faces?
Roy Dotrice
The late Roy Dotrice was a treasure, and he was the original choice for Grand Maester Pycelle.
Instead, he had a small role in season 2 as Hallyne the pyromancer.
Dotrice was also the voice behind the A Song of Ice and Fire audiobooks.
Royd Tolkien
There shouldn’t be any fantasy fans who don’t know the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Royd Tolkien is the great-grandson of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings author.
He made a brief cameo in season five, but shared his pics for all to see.
Rob McElhenney
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia star Rob McElhenney had a brief appearance in last Sunday’s season eight premiere.
He paid the Iron Price for his role, as he was gruesomely killed by an arrow through the eye.
Martin Starr
A mere moment after Rob McElhenney was dispatched, Martin Starr was also taken out by an arrow.
Starr and McElhenney were playing two of Euron Greyjoy’s crew, who were murdered during Yara’s rescue.
Ed Sheeran
Nobody missed crooner Ed Sheeran’s flashy cameo in the season seven premiere.
But you may have been distracted by Bronn’s naked women when Ed’s fate was revealed.
In the season eight premiere, we learned that poor “Eddie” is missing part of his face after a dragon attack.
Hopefully, he’s still got his voice!
Will Champion
Cold Play’s drummer, Will Champion, got to play a drummer in Game of Thrones season three.
He was in the band for the infamous Red Wedding.
Gary Lightbody
If you don’t know who Snow Patrol is, then Gary Lightbody’s cameo was invisible.
He was among the soldiers singing “The Bear and the Maiden Fair.”
Mastodon
It’s hard to get more metal than Mastodon’s two cameos on this show!
First, Brann Dailor, Bill Kelliher, and Brent Hinds died during the attack on Hardhome.
Two seasons later, they reappeared as undead wights alongside the Night King!
Of Monsters and Men
Of Monsters and Men made two cameo appearances in the series, including the Purple Wedding in season four.
But we prefer their season six cameo, during a theatrical performance that lampooned the events in Westeros.
Bastille
The band known as Bastille filmed a cameo for the end of season seven.
Unfortunately, most of the cameo was cut from the season finale.
Guitarist Kyle Simmons and tour manager Dick Meredith still briefly appear as Wights in the closing minutes of the episode.
