When someone in a family announces that they are expecting and that their family is about to grow, many others in the family want to get involved and immediately know everything there is to know about the unborn child.
Some families are closer than others, but there are also those who want to be constantly updated and buy things immediately for the new little bundle of joy.
The soon-to-be grandparents are usually the ones who want to be the most involved and updated, despite how the expecting parents may feel.
Sometimes, this can put a wedge between parents and their children, who are going to be parents soon.
Gender, for some expecting couples, is something that many want to keep to themselves and not tell others right away.
Despite if they know about it or not, many want to keep it to themselves until the baby is born.
The parents/grandparents happen to usually be the ones who are angry and upset that they are not involved or included, especially in the "gender/sex" of the child.
They want to buy things and be the ones who are spoiling their "grandchild" so if they can't, they are a bit unhappy.
If there are disagreements and arguments, sometimes, people like to take the petty road instead of taking the high road.
One Reddit user recently shared how her own mother reacted to her decision to not reveal the gender of her baby.
Shared to the subreddit "Baby Bumps," the Reddit user shared the gift that her mom had given to her and her husband for their baby.
The couple told her mother that they did not want to reveal the gender, so she decided to give them a gift that spoke louder than words.
The mom decided that instead of buying anything that's blue or pink, the normal "gender-typical colors" for newborn babies, she went with all gray.
Clearly, this made a "bold statement," that she couldn't buy the "normal" color gifts because she had no idea if her grandchild was a boy or a girl.
The joke is on the grandmother because to be honest, who doesn't like the color gray?
Also, these things are pretty damn cute so she did get them a pretty nice gift in the long run. Doesn't seem to be so petty, if she wanted it to be.
"As someone who shared the baby’s gender at 12 weeks and has received nothing but pink clothing since, I would have much preferred grey.
But this is hilarious," shared Reddit user hellopicklejuicee.
"Me and my SO found out the gender with our first and didn’t tell anyone. We got mostly gender-neutral things, lots of green, yellow, grey, and white. Told people what we were having with are second and got nothing but Blue all boy stuff," said madommouselfefe.
"Whatever happened to yellow? Isn't that the original gender-neutral color. When my mom was pregnant with me they didn't know until birth. There was no option to find out and I feel like a LOT of my baby stuff was yellow," said dorkstone710.
"Oh good grief. My mom was being super annoying about us finding out for ourselves but not telling anyone. Got a "you're never going to tell me are you?" to which I wanted to reply "no mom, we aren't. Never. Gender neutral name and you will be blindfolded for all diaper changes"
