Dad's Post Supporting His Son Wearing Dresses Goes Viral

Parenting in today's day and age can be pretty complicated with social media, technology, and the weight of everyone's expectations on our shoulders. Some parents feel like they're constantly failing when they see their kids acting or behaving differently than others.

However, there are some parents who embrace the differences of their children and praise them for being who they are. And, we love to see that!

One dad recently opened up about his son and how he chooses to dress.

In a post that has now gone viral on Facebook, dad Jared Qwustenuxun Williams shared how he feels about his son, Finn, who likes to wear dresses. While some dads may be upset or bothered, Jared decided to take a different approach to how he chooses to see his son.

Jared said that he's "so damn proud" of his boy.

"My son likes to wear dresses,

I am so damn proud of his strength and bravery. I keep using male pronouns because even though we give him space he tells us, and everyone else, that he is 'just a boy who likes to wear dresses,'" he wrote.

The dad shared that Finn was getting bullied for a bit in school.

"At the start of the school year some kids were not as cool about his dresses and said some stuff that sent him into a few months of pants only.

But in the last months of the school year Finn has been back to his true self, which makes him and his family so happy," he continued.

Jared wanted to share Finn's picture with others.

At first, Finn wasn't interested in his dad sharing his photo.

"I asked him once if I could share this picture and he said, 'only with one person.' He is not a fan of sharing his picture," Jared wrote.

But, Jared asked again, saying he could help another boy out there who also may want to wear dresses, too.

Finn decided that his dad was right.

"I want to share your picture so that if maybe if another boy is afraid to wear a dress he'll see your picture and not be afraid because he can see you in a dress and know he is not alone," Jared told Finn.

"Finn got the biggest smile on his face and said, 'Dad, maybe you should share that picture,'" he said.

The dad also praised Finn's school for allowing his son to be himself and for educating other kids.

"And while I am here I want to send some love to our boys school, Queen Margaret's. They have been SUPER supportive, the teachers have been great at helping educate the other kids. They are even totally willing to let him wear the tunic or kilt uniform, which he has a few times," he wrote.

The dad ended his post by saying to use his son as an example.

"So if you know a boy, or a man, who likes to wear dresses but feels insecure, show them this picture of Finn and share the story of his bravery. Maybe my little Finn can make a big difference," he concluded in his post.

People online absolutely loved this post and how supportive this dad is.

One person said that family has such a large impact on our lives and are the ones who show us that we can be accepted no matter what. Having a supportive father like Jared definitely helps Finn feel comfortable being himself.

Others said that they respect this family so much for their openness.

Others commented on how the family handled this so well and that Finn is "so lucky" and they should be "so proud" of how they handled it. Many people said that the whole family has earned the respect of them and their families online.

We love a big supportive family!
