20-Year-Old Willow Smith Discusses Being Polyamorous In New 'Red Table Talk' Episode

One of the few reasons I still have a Facebook account is because of the awesome content created on platforms like Mommy Needs Vodka, Aunty Acid, and of course, Red Table Talk — the only talk show worth watching, tbh.

The show, hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and Willow Smith, often touches on difficult or taboo subjects, and this week's episode was no different.

*Red Table Talk* is known for dealing with controversial topics and people.

Who can forget the infamous Jordyn Woods interview following the Tristan Thompson cheating scandal? Or what about when they had Olivia Jade on to break her silence after the college admissions scandal?

However, the ~Red Table~ is also a place for family discussions amongst the Pinkett-Smith group.

The latest episode gave viewers a look into Jada's daughter Willow's views on polyamorous relationships.

Back in a 2019 *Red Table Talk* episode, Willow said that she was open to polyamory,

"I love men and women equally, and so I would definitely want one man, one woman. I feel like I could be polyfidelitous with those two people," she explained.

Now, the 20-year-old has decided to live a polyamorous life.

"With polyamory, I feel like the main foundation is the freedom to be able to create a relationship style that works for you," Willow told her mother and her grandmother.

"Not just stepping into monogamy because that's what everyone around you says is the right thing to do."

"Doing research into polyamory, the main reason why divorces happen is infidelity," she continued.

Jada was impressed with her daughter's openness.

"I I think anything goes, as long as the intentions are clear — more to yourself than anything," she responded.

"I know that there's a lot of beauty that sits outside of the conventional boxes. Most people are practicing monogamy because they feel they have no other choice."

"We all know that most people out here do an ethical non-monogamy any damn way," she added.

Willow agreed, and went on to explain the only reason she would get married, and it's not what you might expect.

"The history of marriage really irks me," the 20-year-old explained.

"The history of marriage as a whole, and what it has represented over the years, for women in particular."

"The only way I would get married is, let's say me and my partner or partners want to help people and we need to put our finances together to make that vision happen."

She also went on to emphasize that polyamory isn't about sex.

"Let's say you haven't always been the person wanting sex all the time, but your partner is," she explained.

"Are you going to be the person to say, 'Just because I don't have these needs, you can't have them either?'"

"That's one of the reasons why I was interested in poly, because I was introduced to it through kind of a nonsexual lens."

"In my friend group, I'm the only polyamorous person and I have the least sex out of all of my friends."
