Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Surprise Texas Women's Shelter By Replacing Damaged Roof

In a heartwarming story to start your week off right, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are making a difference to those who need it most in Texas. It was reported this past weekend that the duke and duchess surprised a women's shelter in Dallas by replacing their damaged roof after being forced to close their doors for the first time in 40 years.

There is no shortage of people, and places, in need of help in Texas.

As the state continues to battle the impact of its unprecedented winter freeze, many celebrities and public figures are reaching out to help those in need.

Houston-born music sensation Beyoncé was one of the first celebrities to reach out.

Her foundation, BeyGOOD, has teamed up with Adidas and the Houston disaster relief organization, Bread of Life, to provide grants of up to $1,000 to the millions of residents who have been affected by the devastating storm.

In addition to the grants, BeyGOOD took it one step further.

The foundation recently donated 1,000 meals to those in need in Houston, in addition to water.

Country singer Kacey Musgraves took to social media to send love to her home state as well.

"I love y'all. Stay strong," she tweeted, after informing her followers she donated to a charity outreach in Austin.

Hunk and Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey is also stepping up to help his home state.

This past weekend, the actor announced that he and his wife, Camila, are organizing a virtual benefit to help those in his home state that have been affected by the recent ice storm.

"As most of you know, my home state of Texas was just hit with the worst winter storm it’s had in the last 70 years," he began.

"And while most of the power is thankfully being restored, the busted water lines from hospitals to so many homes has left so many Texans without the bare necessities they need to survive."

He told fans to "stay tuned" on the upcoming benefit, explaining the event would be held in the next two weeks.

Now, the most recent effort comes from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

It was reported this past weekend that the pair surprised the Genesis Women's Shelter & Support in Dallas with plans to fix their roof through their nonprofit, Archewell Foundation.

Posting on their social media, Genesis Women Shelter & Support wrote:

"Today, the news of our damages reached Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex! Through their nonprofit, they are supporting us by replacing the roof at our transitional housing facility & helping us meet our immediate needs. THANK YOU, ARCHEWELL FOUNDATION!"

The horrific damage and flooding caused by the storm in Texas forced Genesis to completely shut its doors for the first time in nearly 40 years of operation.

The shelter serves 3,700 women and children each year, and now, thanks to the support of the community and the duke and duchess, their doors can be open to help those in need once again.

Fans took to social media to praise the couple.

"As someone who has been a first-hand recipient of the care from @GenesisShelter it fills my heart to see this," tweeted one fan.

"I am thrilled with Harry and Meghan, and America is so lucky to have these two sweet compassionate souls," agreed another.

Way to go, Meghan and Harry!
