The tribe has been confirmed to be living in isolation from the rest of the globe for 60,000 years. This revelation is mind-blowing, and now Survival International, a human rights group, has suggested stricter laws to ensure outsiders avoid the island.
Quick Fact About The Island
Sources have estimated that the island can conveniently house about 80-150 inhabitants. However, the tribe is purposely left alone due to their high susceptibility to diseases and infection, as they haven’t developed immunity to illnesses.
Current Population On The Island
There could also be as few as 15 or many as 500 people currently residing on the North Sentinel Island.
The group makes up one of the most completely alienated tribes in the world, and it may or may not be related to their current location.

Yes, there’s a name for this special place. The North Sentinel Island lies off the track of main shipping routes in the Bay of Bengal with no natural harbors for passing ships.
Laws And Languages
The island has protective laws that restrict people from visiting them. They’ve organized a way to fiercely protect their homes from intruders.
The tribe has its own languages that humans from other Andaman groups can’t translate.
1991
A clip from 1991 existed of the tribe when Trilokinath Pandit , a director of the Anthropological Survey of India, and his colleagues visited the island on the 4th of January, 1991.
The Visitors
In the clip, the surveyors race towards the island on a boat, and members of the tribe troop out to the beach to check out their new visitors.
The surveyors offered peace by throwing coconuts toward the tribe, a gesture that the tribe members welcomed by collecting them from the water.
However, previous videos showed the inhabitants shooting arrows at visitors, which stopped Indian visits to the island in 1997.
2018
In 2018, an American missionary, John Allen Chau , made a trip to the island with the sole intention of converting its inhabitants to Christianity.
RELATED STORIES
After Chau paid a 27-year-old fisherman to get across the island, the missionary was killed by the locals once he arrived.
