This year’s Met Gala theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” — which didn’t entirely translate well.
To some, it meant dressing up in their most luxurious camping -themed outfits, to others it meant just dressing as over-the-top as humanly possible.

But like any other star-studded event, there were naturally, a few awkward moments.
The fact that some people put in absolutely no effort.
While people like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were frantically changing into multiple, extremely over-the-top costumes, there were also folks like Liam Hemsworth that just showed up wearing a black tuxedo.
Kanye was kind of dressed like a janitor about to work the night-shift.
While I’m sure his ensemble was very expensive, it also looks like it was inspired by a mechanic’s uniform.
At least he’s smiling!
Some celebs clearly put in an effort, but weren’t really on-theme.
I really got the sense that nobody truly understood this year’s Met Gala theme.
Was it suppose to be about “camp”? Or just being extra? Who knows.
Katy Perry dressed like a freaking chandelier.
Not only was she dressed in a 40-pound chandelier costume, but it was actually a working chandelier.
She really did light up the room when she walked into it.
She even sang “Chandelier” by Sia to help get into character.
I firmly believe that this was 100% necessary.
If you’re going to dress up like a chandelier, you better be prepared to sing the song.
And then she dressed like a hamburger.
If you had mixed feelings about the chandelier costume, then I can only imagine that you are definitely not feeling this one.
Hats off to Katy for literally giving zero effs.
Then Jennifer Lopez awkwardly walked passed her changing into her burger costume in the bathroom.
It’s safe to say that Katy Perry probably had the most awkward moments of the night.
Celine Dion admitting that she had no idea what the “camp” theme really meant.
TBH, same.
“I was a little bit confused when I heard ‘Camp.’ I thought it meant ‘camping.’ We’re going camping! We’re going to be at the Met and everyone is going to stay and sleep all night together. But no,” she told a reporter.
Kanye West had no interest in being interviewed.
He really looks like he’s avoiding eye-contact of any kind with any and all members of the press.
This is a mood .
Harry Styles’ look was giving us some serious Jerry Seinfeld vibes.
This is a lewk . Harry Styles is iconic for doing this. I have nothing else to say on this matter.
Tiffany Haddish was carrying fried chicken around in her purse.
Am I the only one who is seriously concerned about what her purse is going to smell like for the rest of its days?
Billy Porter dressed like the golden snitch.
Whether this was intentional or not, Billy Porter looks like exactly like the human embodiment of a golden snitch .
Billy Porter or Billy Potter , amirite?
We still loved it, tbh.
The fact that Jared Leto was carrying around a duplicate of his own head.
This is fashion. IDC.
In all seriousness, I love Jared Leto, but this is super creepy. I’m going to have nightmares tonight because of this.
Fans were really not impressed by Karlie Kloss’ dress.
She really got dragged for this one. But to be fair, the fashion bar was incredibly high this year — maybe she just wasn’t ready.
