Whether you’re a believer or not, we can all appreciate the thought and creativity that goes into creating the messages on church signs. Their writers are doing their level best to engage with people and get their message out and it’s usually in a corny, punny way.
But sometimes they have a bit of an interesting way of looking at current events or the world in general and it’s worth taking notice of.
On point for 2020.
It’s been a summer of turmoil following the graphic video of George Floyd’s death at the hands of the police, with millions of Americans taking to the streets to express their frustration and their desire for change in policing in the nation.
And this makes it all hit home just a bit more, doesn’t it?
This is true of more than just faith.
But especially faith. Sure, hate the person who cuts you off in traffic and almost causes an accident.
Selfishly putting lives at risk is one thing. But faith isn’t about hate, that’s for sure.
Even more succinct.
Brockton Assembly of God is not messing around with mixed messages or waffling or both-sides-ing.
Doesn’t get much more clear-cut than that so nobody should guess what kind of church this is.
Taking a stand.
This church is in Australia; they have a bit of a different perspective on things than Americans do and this would likely draw some passionate responses, especially in the wake of a school shooting.
Searching for silver linings.
Or as others put it, if you learn from a mistake, it wasn’t a mistake. It’s true, of course, that such lessons make for a pretty rough education sometimes but it’s also pretty effective.
The choosing one.
Well, this sign definitely has a point. Jesus did take sides, and his attitude toward money lenders in the temple was unambiguous as well. Now, will that translate into action for this church’s followers?
Putting it out there.
This feels like something that really shouldn’t be controversial but probably is, especially on the internet. But that’s the internet for you.
