Look, people have disagreements, that’s just a part of daily life as a functioning human being in society!
However, sometimes it can be hard to tell if you were in the wrong after a disagreement, so some people take to the internet to seek out the opinions of strangers. One place that is good for this is Reddit’s “Am I the asshole” thread.

And, here for your viewing pleasure, are a handful of the most interesting, bizarre, and unsettling stories that people had to share from the last month.
One person asked, “[Am I the asshole] for telling my stepdaughter to stop using period products in the bathroom she shares with my teenage sons?”
This story was just baffling. It started with one man writing that he has been living with his new wife and stepdaughter for about six months. The stepdaughter is 19, and he has three sons aged 18, 16, and 15, and he explained that all of the kids share a bathroom.
This person also said that their sons are not used to living with women and that their eldest son — who is 18 I would like to reiterate — came to them to say that “his stepsister disposes of her used sanitary products in the trash can they share, but doesn’t use a toilet roll or sandwich bags to disguise what they are, and it makes him uncomfortable which I think is reasonable”.
This person then confronted their stepdaughter about the “issue” and even called her a “scruff.”
Yep, this delightfully horrific human being quite plainly explained that he told his stepdaughter to stop making his sons feel uncomfortable and that she should dispose of them in a different way or wrap them in diapers before disposing of them.
However, when she explained that you cannot flush tampons and that using diapers would be incredibly bad for the environment he said that this was just an “excuse.”
This person then went on to ask if he was being unreasonable?
And, well the answer is obviously yes, that’s just a straight-up fact, and the internet told him as much, with the top answer being:
“Sorry but what? I’m a guy and realize this is ridiculous. You need to help yourself and your sons become better men and accept that it’s a natural process. Are you uncomfortable with your wife’s use of the same? I assume not so teach your sons to be better.”
However, where do you land on this bizarre story?
Another person asked, “[Am I the asshole] For suing my girlfriend after she had my 1967 impala project taken to the scrapyard?”
This person wrote that they recently moved into a new house with their 1967 Impala 4 door, put it in the garage, and started work on restoring it. They went on to say:
“About two months ago my girlfriend came to live with me during this whole crisis and the whole time has hated that car. She wants to park in the garage but I have 2 acres of land with a lot of nice places to park under shady trees or hell even in the barn if it has to be inside. I tell her tough luck its my house and its not like I can just throw it back together real quick. Anyways I was out of town for a couple days on a business trip for the small local company I work for.”
When they came back, they were greeted with a little surprise!
They said that their girlfriend was being overly nice to them for a few hours, until this person asked where she had parked and they found out that their girlfriend had had the car removed and taken away for scrap while they were away. They wrote:
“I had spent over 11k on that car. I told her that I was taking her to court for that and she brushed me off like I was being dramatic. I told her to pack her things and leave. I admit I was a really angry but I did end up getting a lawyer, and as I have all the receipts for all that money spent and I have her on my house’s security cam footage letting the guys in and watching them take it all I think I can win.”
They then asked if people thought they were in the wrong for taking it so far?
Apparently, their ex’s family and friends have been screaming at him that he is being ridiculous and that she cannot pay the money that she cost him. This person went on to write, “I have been putting all my time, effort, and money into that car for a year and a half now and goddammit if I am not going to get justice for what she did.”
Most of the people in the comments agreed that he was right to take the action he did, however, there is still some debate over if he was right to take it so far.
One real shocker came in the form of the question, “AITA for not wanting my dad to ‘walk’ me down the aisle because he’s in a wheelchair?”
I feel like I should warn you that this one is truly unbelievable, and is something of an emotional rollercoaster. They started by explaining:
“About three years ago my dad was injured in a really bad hit and run car accident. He broke just about every bone in his body, and left him paralyzed from the waist down. Our relationship has always been really good, but I hate seeing him in pain and admittedly try to avoid seeing him because it just makes me uncomfortable.”
As their wedding approaches, however, they didn’t want their father to walk them down the aisle because of his wheelchair.
This person went on to say that they didn’t want their dad to give them away as “We always talked about him giving me away and having a dance at my wedding and I don’t want to be reminded of what could’ve been at my wedding.” So, they messaged their mother privately and asked for their uncle to walk them down the aisle instead.
When their mother asked why, this person responded by saying, “I told her that my dad being in a wheelchair would add complications to the wedding. The walkway would have to be widened to accommodate his wheelchair and he wouldn’t be able to hold my arm or give me a proper hug.”
Apparently their mother was outraged…and who would have guessed?
According to the end of their story, their father is absolutely devastated (which is completely understandable) and their family isn’t speaking to them.
I cannot fathom that someone would be this cruel to their own father quite frankly, and the more I think about it, the more I cannot wrap my head around how awful this is.
On a slightly lighter note, someone asked, “AITA for taking back the beer I bought for a party from which I was uninvited?”
Ah yes, a different brand of cruelty to chew on! The person who posted this explained that he is a 19-year-old man who got asked to a party out of the blue by a girl who he once asked out, yet had rejected him.
He went on to say that she asked if he could get the beer, as he is 19 and the rest of them were 18 and “The drinking age where we are is 19.” He said he could get the beer, and she said that she would pick him up at seven.
However, when she picked him up, it wasn’t all as it seemed.
He wrote: “7 o’clock rolled around, and she texted me to say she was in front of my house [and] she drove me to the liquor store. I asked what beer she wanted me to get, and she told me to get Budweiser [so] I went in and bought two cases of 24.”
However, when he got back in the car, he realized that she was driving back towards his house. He went on to say:
“She stopped in front of my house, leaned over, kissed me on the cheek, and said ‘thanks!’ in her best voice. I deadpanned her and asked when she was going to tell me I wasn’t invited. She feigned surprise and said that she never intended to invite me in the first place.”
And if you aren’t cringing with embarrassment now, then there is something wrong with you!
So, he left the car, taking all of the beer with him!
When he got out of the car and took all of the beer with him, apparently she tried to apologize and reinvite him to the party. However, he explained that it was the most humiliating thing that had ever happened to him and went back inside with the beer.
He ended by writing, “[Now] I have text messages from all of her friends and her asking me why I’m being such a dick. I don’t think I’m the asshole for reacting the way I did, but if you haven’t figured it out I’m not amazing socially so I’m not sure. Am I here?”
And the answer, in my opinion, is that he is absolutely not being the asshole! How could he be in this situation?
One person also asked, “Am I the asshole for calling my sister out for editing photos of my daughter?”
As we live in a seemingly increasingly more vacuous world where people care more about perpetuating a fake reality than actually experiencing life, this can have horrific consequences on those we love ⏤ as this one person found out. They started by writing:
“So [I’m a 33-year-old woman], my daughter is 16, and my sister is 23. My sister is obsessed with her Instagram, like she posts 3-4 times a day, she’s got an ‘appearance’ and ‘standards’. My daughter has struggled with her weight for a while.”
And, if you can see where this is going, then you’re probably right to be feeling angry already.
This mother was shocked when she looked at one of her sister’s most recent Instagram uploads.
This distraught mother went on to explain, “My sister took a picture of her and my daughter and posted it on Instagram, my daughter was really excited but when she checked it she got really upset – she hasn’t left her room yet. My sister had heavily edited the picture so my daughter looked skinny.
“I was extremely angry and phoned my sister to tell her to take it down/ post the unedited photo, she refused, telling me that she just wanted to show the world what a beautiful girl my daughter was and that she promotes health.”
This mother was understandably furious with how her sister had crushed her daughter’s self-confidence, and commented on her sister’s picture, writing, “I’m ashamed, my daughter is beautiful without the heavy editing going on in this photo, be ashamed sister for body shaming a teenager, take this down immediately and apologise.”
As a result of the mother’s comment on her post, the sister received a torrent of abuse via Instagram.
Apparently, the sister received a lot of negative backlash for making the niece feel so bad about herself. However, this mother went on to write, “My husband thinks that I went overkill. AITA?”
I don’t think that she went “overkill” at all in this instance. It is perfectly understandable that a mother would be furious about someone upsetting her daughter like this! However, there were a few people who agreed with her husband. Where do you stand on this issue?
