They say that a picture is worth a thousand words . If that’s the case, putting two pictures together should equal two thousand words . We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves and start talking about putting three pictures together. Let’s just stick with comparing two things for the time being.
No matter how many words you think these pics are worth, it’s the comparison element that makes them so compelling.
“With my son’s autism there is a lot of repetition and routine he uses to find comfort. This is one of my favorites. He has snuggled the same way for 19 years.”

Anyone who’s raising a child on the autism spectrum probably had their heart melted by these photos. It shows us that no matter how much things might change, some stuff stays the same.
“10 year old me vs 25 year old me.”

We often see comparisons of someone’s art prowess before and after they started taking lessons, but how about a comparison of a child artist and the same artist as an adult? It’s safe to say that they’ve come a long way.
“From a little bean to a majestic Queen.”

When you’re raising a puppy, you know they won’t look like a little dumpling forever. Still, it can be hard to envision what they’ll wind up looking like after they grow a bit. Well, here’s one example of how majestic a doggo can get.
“My grandma and grandpa dressed as each other for a party. Early 1950s.”

This pic proves that one of the simplest ways of dressing up for Halloween — simply exchanging clothes with someone else — is timeless. Or, at the very least, it dates back a good few decades.
“My 10 year progress pic to becoming an RN.”

I think most of us just throw these old badges away when we no longer need them, but that might be a mistake. After all, if you don’t keep them, you won’t have reminders of how far you’ve come.
“Best buds, then and now.”

One of the most adorable parts of pet ownership is watching your dog or cat do something kind of goofy when they’re young — and continue doing so even once they’re fully grown. This is a particularly cute example.
“Japan vs Brazil.”

Aside from basketball, volleyball is probably the team sport that attracts the most tall people . That isn’t to say that short people can’t compete, though. It’s just that there’s a mix. Maybe the woman on the left is the Muggsy Bogues of women’s volleyball.
“My husband transformed our backyard with his own 2 hands over 9 months.”

Pics like this show us just how far you can get with some hard work. They’re also a reminder that if you can afford to get someone else to do it for you, it’ll be a lot easier.
“Visited the same model village 25 years apart.”

I’m kind of impressed at how well this rickety-looking model village has held up over the years. It’s still the same size — small — but the people posing in front of it have grown some.
“University classroom vs same university’s football locker room.”

The classroom on the left looks severely underfunded, while the football locker room looks like a spaceship. Incredibly, Louisiana Tech isn’t even a major football school. Once you start talking about the big schools, price tags for football facilities can easily reach into the nine-figure range .
“Same location, two different times.”

This is an extremely well-executed photo. It’s always fun to see how tall those snow markers are when they’re not buried in snow, but there’s also the fact that things are lined up so well that this almost looks like one photo.
“Mariupol before and after Russian liberation.”

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was one of the most brazen acts of warfare in recent memory. While Ukraine has stood firm and resisted a Russian takeover of the country, scars like this will take longer to heal.
“My first ever crazy candy cake vs one of my latest ones.”

You can see that her original crazy candy cake was literally just a bunch of candy dumped onto a normal cake. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but the second cake is obviously more aesthetically pleasing.
“6 week vs 6 month noodle.”

That’s a ferret, right? I’m going to go ahead and say it’s a ferret. In any event, it’s something that’s kind of small and dumpy at the age of six weeks, and impossibly long once it reaches the six-month mark.
“The wife and I went to the Grand Canyon this weekend. Top was Saturday, Bottom was Sunday.”

The Grand Canyon is famous for its shifting weather patterns. At least this couple stayed for a couple of days so they could get a clear, unobstructed view the day after a blizzard.
“Almost all of the different color of eggs my chickens lay.”

Grocery stores sell white eggs and brown eggs, but if you’re a chicken farmer, you’ll get eggs in all sorts of colors. You can see everything from cyan blue to olive green in this assortment.
“My mom in 1966 and today. Still rocking the same shirt 55 years later.”

They don’t make them like they used to. That phrase could apply to this woman just as well as this shirt, because any shirt that lasts for half a century has to be pretty good.
“2 years of dust, noise and more dust and things are finally starting to look and feel like a home.”

If you’re doing home renos, it’s absolutely imperative to take ‘before’ photos, if only so you can see how much progress has been made.
“One year of good care and love.”

The photo on the left would be upsetting on its own, but seeing the same cat one year later, healthy and happy, totally redeems it. There’s nothing more rewarding than giving a pet the life they deserve.
“Two photographs of my Nana, taken 71 years apart.”

I really appreciate how both of these photos are in black and white, with similar light balance, in the same location. It really drives home how much has changed — and how much hasn’t.
