Many 18-year-olds want something special for their milestone birthday. Usually, it’s a car or another extravagant gift like that. But what if you could give your child something truly unique that the whole family can appreciate?
Well, this mom came up with a gift that will keep on giving and surprised her daughter on her special day. Check out this cool story.
Gracie Chastain was about to celebrate her 18th birthday.
So her mom, Kim, pulled out a gift she’s been saving for the past 17 years. She created a time capsule when Gracie was just one-year-old, and she kept it hidden all this time.
Gracie’s mom didn’t know what to get for her then one-year-old for her birthday, so she came up with something even better.
She asked various family members and friends to fill a box with memorabilia, jewelry, saving bonds, and other cool items from the year Gracie was born.
Even when the family moved around, they kept the box hidden from Gracie and the rest of the kids.
They had it was buried under some boxes of books for the past 10 years in their basement’s storage room of all places.
Kim wanted to capture the special moment Gracie opened the time capsule box, so she even set up a camera to record it all.
She also took pictures of the whole thing and shared it on Facebook, and of course, people loved the idea.
The family had a small gathering where Gracie was able to open the time capsule and see everything that it contained.
The best part of it was letters that she got to read from some relatives who had passed away in the years since the time capsule was created.
As you can imagine, that must’ve been a very emotional time for everybody.
Gracie got to read letters from her great-grandparents and great-great aunts who are no longer with them. What a wonderful surprise this must’ve been for her.
Gracie had no idea so many people cared so deeply about her.
Her favorite gifts from the capsule were pictures of her grandparents, jewelry, and, of course, savings bonds and cash. Oh wow, what an array of awesome goodies.
Folks online had a field day when they heard about this creative time capsule.
Kim’s Facebook post has gotten over 77,000 reactions and even 106,000 shares. Wow, isn’t that amazing? Most people wished they have done something like this for their kids.
