We’ll often find that some of the coolest and most interesting things we do in life are done by accident. And unless we’re particularly lucky, there’s also a strong possibility that they’ll happen when nobody else is around to witness them.
I mean, I know I’m not the only one who’s tried in vain to replicate something cool I did only to be met with disappointed stares.
But whether people have an audience for their chance discoveries or not, we’re about to see that some were at least lucky enough to get them on camera.
Most of the ice that builds on our windshields is little more than a nuisance but that’s because it almost never turns out like this.

As we can see, it happened to form in shards that almost look like a peaceful winter forest. It’s always nice when nature shows off its artistic chops.
While this is just an unfortunate coincidence, the sad part is that in the eyes of many health care workers, this message comes across as more honest.

As one such person put it , “If ‘health care heroes’ was a thing so many of our patients wouldn’t act like entitled assholes and the hospitals would stop overworking us while underpaying us.”
After enough ice builds on a sign, it can be easy to forget it’s even there.

That is, until it gets so heavy that it peels itself off the sign and we realize that we accidentally have a perfect outline of it.
In this case, it seems like an ice sculpture that captures a strangely mundane subject.
While it would be cool if this photo captured a snowflake in mid-air, what’s happening here is even more incredible.

It’s hard to make out in this picture but it’s actually being held in place by a single strand of a spider’s web.
If your lava lamp has never looked like this, then that likely has to do with the environment you keep it in.

Because apparently, this is what it looks like when it becomes cold enough that a lava lamp freezes.
It kind of looks like someone’s trying to grow life inside of it.
Speaking of cold, the specific chilly conditions recently experienced in Armenia brought about this interesting phenomenon.

Apparently, this is known as pogonip and it occurs when the droplets in fog end up freezing due to frigid temperatures.
In situations like the one we see here, this can result in frost forming on snow.
While we know that our produce isn’t always going to turn out exactly like we’re used to, that doesn’t mean it can’t still surprise us.

For instance, these carrots somehow ended up completely intertwined. I hope the recipe calls for two of them because it doesn’t seem terribly easy to separate these ones.
When a piece of ice is just the right shape, it can make a glass look downright surreal.

As we can see here, this block has accidentally become such an effective stopper that none of the cola can actually reach the bottom of the glass.
It may not be watertight for long but it is now.
Apparently, this couple went back to the classics and brought a film camera with them on their trip to these scenic mountains.

Unfortunately, the results of the last photo they were able to take goes a way to explain why we’ve all switched to digital photography.
Instead of knowing that his girlfriend’s thumb was in the shot right away, the man we see here only realized that after the photo was developed.
Somehow, these cars happened to be parked in a way that demonstrates the spectrum of darkness and light.

It seems pretty unlikely that all of these drivers would plan for this and we can see that the effect isn’t perfect thanks to some outliers.
But still, it’s pretty uncanny that looking at this picture from left to right will largely see the coloration of the cars go from darkest to brightest.
In Svalbard, Norway, this is apparently what happens when you leave the window open for long enough.

As someone who’s also in a pretty cold place right now, it’s hard for me to fathom opening it at all.
How hot was it inside of this office before this happened?
While it’s hard not to feel lucky to be alive after harrowing situations like this, it’s also hard not to realize how much this sucks when the shock wears off.

Apparently, somebody’s trailer hitch came off on the road and flew right into this unfortunate driver’s windshield.
While this wasn’t exactly a desirable outcome, the uploader can at least take solace in the fact that this stain has taken the shape of a friendly whale.

And while I know what this looks like, it’s actually the result of a toddler taking their can of beer and throwing it.
I’ve had something similar happen to me, but it ended up on me instead of my furniture and didn’t create any fun shapes.
Snow can do some fascinating things when it gets too heavy for its own good but this seems like it could only result from some very specific conditions.

I’m not amazed that it drooped down but I am amazed that it did so both lightly enough to stay on the pole and in such a way that it looks like a natural Christmas decoration.
It’s hard to tell how often this happens but it seems unlikely that such an eerily perfect projection would be common.

In case it’s not clear what we’re looking at, this is actually a building with a glass exterior that’s reflecting the full image of a completely different building.
That must feel kind of disorienting to see.
Although it was freshly cut by the time this photo was taken, we can see a pretty clear sign that this papaya is overripe.

As you might imagine, it’s not supposed to look like that on the inside. The riper a fruit gets, the more we see the seeds inside mature and the less prevalent a hormone called abscisic acid becomes.
As this acid reduces, the seeds become more likely to sprout as we see them doing here.
Apparently, all the uploader was trying to do here was take their sweatshirt off.

And from the looks of it, that’s how they learned their cuffs weren’t stitched on as securely as they thought.
Because while I’ve been pretty rough on my clothes in the past, I’ve never had this happen.
While this person was mixing paint, it just happened to form an image of a bird.

And that definitely didn’t happen on purpose since it sounds like they hesitated in continuing because they didn’t want to wreck this cool likeness.
The job still needed to be done, though.
Although smoking indoors is a great way to make a house more gross, it can also create this effect under the right circumstances.

As harmful as it can be, there’s no denying that the smoke definitely looks pretty when a sunbeam passes through it.
As one new parent wrote, “My newborn arrived with a heart in his hair swirls.”

As if the moment that ends a difficult birthing process wasn’t already magical enough, this nice little coincidence seems to encapsulate all the love in the room.
