Dennis Quaid Has Adopted A Black Cat Named Dennis Quaid

While there's something undeniably enticing about adopting a kitten or a puppy, sometimes it feels extra good to give a loving home to an adult animal who needs it, especially when you can help out a Humane Society in the process.

Actor Dennis Quaid clearly felt the same way when he picked up his latest pet, who, coincidentally, is also named Dennis Quaid.

Dennis Quaid is a huge animal lover.

On top of being a successful actor, Dennis is the proud pet dad to a miniature bulldog named Peaches and is also the host of a podcast all about pet ownership called The Pet Show With Dennis Quaid and Jimmy Jellinek.

It makes sense that the Lynchburg Humane Society would name one of their adoptable cats after him.

"I may not live up to my dramatic and artistic actor namesake, I'd rather watch his movies with you curled up on the couch! Would you like to marathon with me?" reads the cat Dennis Quaid's bio on the website, which also lists him at 6 years old.

So, obviously, the real Dennis Quaid adopted him.

“It was really off the wall, but I just couldn’t resist. I had to,” Dennis said about the adoption.

“I’m out to save all the Dennis Quaids of the world,” Dennis joked to WSLS about the adoption.

It definitely is an unbeliable story, and the Lynchburg Humane Society almost didn't believe it themselves!

“I was like there is no way this is real, like, someone is pranking us,” Danielle Ulmer, the Adoption Center Manager, said.

“Maybe they should start naming animals in shelters after different celebrities and see who bites,” Dennis said, which the Humane Society is definitely on board with.

“We’ve already talked about that. We’re like alright, so everyone pick your top three favorite celebrities,” Ulmer joked.

We love a happy ending!
