In our lives, we go through a lot of friends. Some of us have childhood friends that we grow apart from. Other times, we lose touch with people as we go through phases in our lives, changing from being crazy, single, and carefree to married, parenting, and a little more stable.

People often come and go in our lives, with individuals actually changing their friend groups every seven years.

There are some people, however, who are by our side forever.

Although friends may come and go in our lives, there are people who are by our side from Day 1 and stay there forever. Some of us are fortunate enough to have friends who last a lifetime, but, others are lucky enough to have a built-in best friend in the person who brought them into the world—their mom.

Our mom is that one person who loves us unconditionally.

From our very first steps to our very first words, all the way until we graduate college and bring our own children into the world—our mom is our biggest cheerleader. She roots us on and pushes us to reach our wildest dreams, always gleaming with pride along the way.

It's no wonder that so many of us consider our mom not just our parent, but our closest friend.

To share good news and bad, the first person many of us turn to is our mom. She is the one who gives the best advice, listens without fail, and always looks out for our best interests. We know she will always be honest and true with us, no matter how much it may hurt.

Americans appreciate their moms so much, that they think "every day should be Mother's Day."

Many also consider their mom to be their hero.

Regardless, many know moms go above and beyond for everyone in their lives.
