And rightfully so. It's dark and eerie, but still the very definition of binge-worthy, as long as you aren't too squeamish.

Since the show's release in November 2021, Melanie Lynskey, who plays the role of Shauna, has had more eyes on her than ever before.

Shauna is one of the show's main characters, and she has done an amazing job of portraying the character.

Unfortunately, stepping into such a big role has drawn a lot of attention to the actress and has garnered unwanted criticism of her appearance, which she and her husband have spoken out about.

In February, the actress took to Twitter to address the trolls. "The story of my life since Yellowjackets premiered," she wrote.

The 44-year-old explained that the comments that bug her the most are the ones that insinuate that she is unhealthy.

"Most egregious are the 'I care about her health!' people," she tweeted.

In an interview with "Rolling Stone", she revealed that she has had to stay away from Reddit threads about the show because of how offensive some of the comments are.

“I was looking on Reddit and reading stuff. And, I just can’t. It makes me crazy."

"There’s a lot of people saying a lot of stuff and so I was like, ‘You know what? I’m going to put that down.’"

"It’s like an alcoholic hitting rock bottom. But, you know, I was reading all these [comments] like, ‘Who is he?’” she continued, on her love interest in the show.

“And I was like, ‘Wow, it’s so funny to me that nobody’s really thinking he could just be a thing. That he could just be into her.’”

Melanie assured fans that she is very healthy and there is no cause for concern.

"... You don't see me on my Peloton? You don't see me running through the park with my child?" she tweeted, adding that weight is not always a reflection of health. "Skinny does not always equal healthy."

Not long after, Melanie's husband, Jason Ritter, sounded off in her defence.

"If anyone has any further unsolicited comments about anybody else’s body, they can feel free to write them in permanent ink onto their own foreheads," he tweeted. "And swan dive directly into the sun."

Melanie's tweet was met with an influx of kind and supportive messages from fans.

While recently speaking with ET, she showed her appreciation to those that have been showing love.

“I really appreciate people reaching out to me," she said.

"I’ve gotten so many messages from women who feel very represented and seen by things they’ve seen or just by seeing my body on-screen,” Melanie continued.
