It wasn’t easy keeping Will Ferrell’s cameo a secret.
Early cuts of the trailer actually had Ferrell in it, much to the chagrin of director David Dobkin . He had to have Ferrell edited out and made a goodwill pact with every reviewer that they wouldn’t mention Ferrell’s appearance.

Director David Dobkin knew he’d be working alongside Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan, but at that time Rachel McAdams was still largely unknown.
Dobkin interviewed over 100 different actresses (including Academy Award winners) before finding Rachel.
To secure the part of Kathleen Cleary, Jane Seymour had to do something she hadn’t done in over 30 years.
Jane actually had to audition! Originally, the casting directors had their sights set on Raquel Welch.
According to Jane, it was the funniest script she’d ever read.
Owen Wilson ad-libbed one of his character’s most memorable lines.
Remember Owen’s classic “You know how people say we only use 10 percent of our brains? I think we only use 10 percent of our hearts,” pick-up line?
That was all Owen.
Rachel McAdams listened to Fleetwood Mac to help her with emotional scenes.
It’s not a bad choice if you ask me. Is there a person alive who doesn’t get wispy-eyed listening to ” Landslide ” or “Dreams”?
It gets me every time.
Director David Dobkin really used to wake the sun sitting on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial
It’s a scene he looks back on fondly; Dobkin did it all the time in his youth with his best friend. This adds such a deeper , more contextualized layer to the whole moment

Owen Wilson actually uses one of the *Wedding Crashers* rules when he attends weddings.
“I think I try to follow the rule, rule 17 from this movie: blend in by sticking out,” Wilson said to IGN. “You don’t want to behave too much, but you want to be noticed.”
If that’s not advice to live by, then I don’t know what is.
Fake Purple Hearts were available for purchase via the film’s website.
It didn’t take long before these were quickly pulled down.
Apparently several U.S. Senators, as well as high-ranking members of law enforcement , didn’t think the idea was funny at all.
The script needed a lot of work.
At first, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan were incredibly skeptical . They thought that the concept was funny but that the majority of the humor felt corny.
Together, they helped to re-write the script.
Vince Vaughan claims to have never crashed a wedding, but he does still have some pretty funny pick-up stories.
Vince recalled a time when he and his friends used to feed pick-up lines to one another — the more ludicrous the better!
Can you imagine trying to break the ice with a line like “Excuse me for squinting, I’ve just been up all night painting miniature elves,” I sure can’t.
Vince Vaughan may or may not have the painting given to him by Todd.
Some reports say that Vaughan took it with him after the movie wrapped. But according to a Reddit AMA that Vaughan gave in 2013, he claims to have no knowledge of where the painting is.

Both Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams teased as much in a recent interview.
