Christmas came early this year for Virgin River fans.
Season 2 of the hit Netflix show was released on November 27, 2020. Even with that devastating cliffhanger, fans haven’t been able to get enough!
While you eagerly await the final decision on whether there will be a Season 3, enjoy these BTS photos that are as heartwarming as the show.
1. First, a reminder about Season 2.
IT’S NOW STREAMING!
Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel) and Martin Henderson (Jack) adorably made this announcement on the show’s official Instagram page.
We love to see how close these two are in real life.
2. The book series.
In case you didn’t know, the TV series is based on a series of popular novels by author Robyn Carr .
In May, she released her first new Virgin River book in eight years, called Return to Virgin River .
3. The show picnic!
As if the cast and crew couldn’t be more adorable, we go and find out that they had their own picnic.
The festivities looked just as charming as the show, as it was filled with games, candy stations, and live music.
They get up to eggcellent fun!
In a follow-up post of the show’s picnic, the cast members competed in a spoon-and-egg race.
“BTS part 2 picnic, our wonderfully talented director @gailharvey gives direction to cast….what change happened between rehearsal to screen?”
4. Taking some much-needed time to relax.
In case you’re wondering what Alexandra gets up to between takes, it’s this.
“What a week! Mel and all of VR thank you for all the love you showed us this week by watching season 2,” the show captioned this pic.
5. A look at Season 2.
The show is just teasing us at this point. Now that Season 2 is released and we were left on that cliffhanger, we’re practically salivating over Season 3.
At least we have these BTS pics, though.
6. BTS makeup.
Oh, how we wish we had someone to do this for us in real life. We’d never have a hair out of place again!
This just gives you a glimpse into what goes into making TV stars look perfect.
7. Three Jacks in a box.
“Why have one Jack when you can have three?” the show captioned this gorgeous picture of Martin on Instagram.
Truer words have never been spoken. Given his good looks and charm, it didn’t take long for him to become everyone’s crush.
8. One stylish couple.
Plandid or candid? Either way, we love this picture of the show’s leads.
If they both didn’t have partners already, we’d totally root for some off-camera romance. Who knows what happens down the line?
9. A gallery of fun.
If you click through the pics, you’ll see some adorably fun snaps of Colin Lawrence, Lexa Doig, Chase Petriw, and Steve Bacic.
As you can imagine, the comments are filled with lots of fans eagerly awaiting Season 3.
10. *Virgin River*’s location.
After falling in love with the rustic charm of Virgin River, you were probably wondering if it’s a real place.
Sadly, it is just a figment of Robyn Carr’s imagination. “I have to remind them that it only exists in our hearts and minds,” she told Entertainment Weekly .
You can, however, visit the places where the show is filmed.
According to Atlas of Wonders , this is in different locations throughout Vancouver, Canada. This includes locations for Doc’s clinic, Mel’s cabin, and Paige’s Bakeway.
Road trip, anyone??
11. Doc’s clinic is especially swanky.
That’s because it’s reportedly filmed in an actual house worth $2.3 million!
This is located in the historic Queen’s Park of New Westminster in Vancouver. It’s still on the market if you want to live like you’re on the show.
12. The location of Jack’s bar.
With the show being filmed in Vancouver, it makes sense that Jack’s bar would also be located there.
While the exterior of his bar is the Watershed Grill in Brackendale, Vancouver, interior shots are filmed in a studio.
13. Being an actor takes hard work — and lots of laughs.
The show’s Instagram page shared this hilarious video of Mel and Jack rehearsing.
“We on Virgin River are always super serious about our craft. ALWAYS,” commented Ben Hollingsworth, who plays the troublemaker Dan Brady.
14. The third wheel.
“Who is interfering with Mel and Mark’s romantic moment?” they captioned this picture on Instagram. That would be the show’s director, Martin Wood!
You know, for a dead character, Mark looks very much alive.
15. Jack’s thirst trap.
It’s fair to say that fans are obsessed with Martin Henderson. Some even knew him from his Grey’s Anatomy days when he played Nathan Riggs.
Fun fact: He was also the “womanizer” in Britney Spears’ “Womanizer” video!
16. Where it all began.
This was the first picture the show’s Instagram page ever gave us of Mel and Jack.
Fans of the book series had been eagerly anticipating the actors who would bring the characters to life. These two definitely do them justice.
17. Happy New Year from *Virgin River*!
It goes without saying that 2020 was a year to forget, for us and for the cast of Virgin River .
Have a listen below to every cast member’s not-so-fond farewell to 2020. Here’s to hoping that the New Year brings a much-needed respite.
18. A rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of the series’ director, Andy Mikita.
I always find it amazing that directors and cinematographers always somehow end up being the worst at taking selfies.
Andy is barely in the frame, for goodness’ sake. I thought he was supposed to be a professional?
19. Alexandra Breckenridge relaxing on a bear-rug is the ultimate form of Netflix and chill.
This picture is taking cozy to new heights. I like to fancy myself a bit of a quilter and I have to say that I’m impressed.
It looks just like the one my grandmother used to have at her trailer.
20. What could the women of *Virgin River* be discussing?!
The latest gossip perhaps? Their plans for a socially-distant holiday? Only time will tell.
I’m more interested in the guy in the background and why he has his pointer finger up in the air?
21. There’s always time for soccer.
Can you imagine the bloodsport matches that have taken place on this pitch of champions? My mind shudders at the thought.
Also, how cute is this picture? Christopher is going to break a lot of hearts, I’m telling you.
22. Something spooky is headed our way!
I don’t know why but there’s something about seeing a skeleton hanging in a doctor’s office that just creeps me out.
Why do they think that their patients would ever want to see that?
23. The scenery truly is breathtaking in *Virgin River*.
If nothing else, Virgin River has made the entire cast and crew gain an entirely new appreciation for the great outdoors.
Being surrounded by such majestic wilderness, how could you not? That lake looks like glass.
24. Cheers to Hope and Doc!
I’m a huge Tim Matheson fan and I think that he and Annette O’Toole work wonderfully together.
I still have a couple of episodes left to burn through, so I’m going to quit now before I go ahead and spoil something for myself!
