Westworld
Number Of Seasons: 2 (Going On 3 in 2020)
Description: Robotic hosts allow human visitors to live out their fantasies consequence-free in this Western theme park.
Why It’s Good: It’s smart, for starters. It raises a bunch of questions about what it means to be human and all sorts of other sweet Sci-Fi conundrums. Also, the concept is really awesome.

Rick And Morty
Number Of Seasons: 3 (going on 4 in November)
Description: A scientist, Rick, and his grandson, Morty go on Sci-Fi themed adventures.
Why It’s Good: But of course, that description doesn’t do the show justice. As a great internet user once said: “To Be Fair, You Have To Have a Very High IQ to Understand Rick and Morty”
But terrible memes aside, it is a really funny show. And pretty smart too.

Shameless (US)
Number Of Seasons: 9
Description: Follow the lives of the Gallagher family and all of their “shameless” exploits.
Why It’s Good: Seriously, these people will want to make you take a shower. But they’ll make you laugh and they’ll make you feel while you do it. Laughing and crying in the shower, I just revealed my Wednesday night plans.

Description: You know what South Park is about, come on. It’s a raunchy cartoon that’s probably one of the best TV shows ever.
Why It’s Good: I know you’ve probably seen every episode already, but I like to do a South Park binge once a year. You should too.

Downton Abbey
Number Of Seasons: 6 (actually, their called “series” in British)
Description: A historical drama that follows the life of the Crawley family and their servants. Set in early 20th century England, it begins with the sinking of the Titanic and… well, if you know history, you know things don’t get much better.
Why It’s Good: Like Game Of Thrones , you’re given a whole bunch of different characters to fall in love with. The stories are tight and dramatic, the people are lovely and who doesn’t like a good British TV show now and then?

The Tudors
Number Of Seasons: 4
Description: This show focuses on King Henry VIII’s nearly 40-year reign in England. Historical dramas ftw!
Why It’s Good: If you liked Natalie Dormer as Margaery in Game Of Thrones then you’ll absolutely adore her here. She’s such a relic in this series and her performance will be drilled into your brain.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
Number Of Seasons: 9
Description: Seinfeld co-creator Larry David plays a fictionalized version of himself going through his daily life. Trust me, it’s more interesting than it sounds.
Why It’s Good: The best part about the show is that Larry always puts himself in the terrible situations he winds up in. And it’s always because of some neurotic quirk he has. And it’s all brilliant.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Number Of Seasons: 11
Description: Google says this show is about “A trio of fast-food items works to solve mysteries in an edgy adult cartoon.” But it’s really just about the three of them, Master Shake, Frylock and Meatwad going through wacky situations.
Why It’s Good: This surreal, strange adult-oriented cartoon is probably your best introduction into the world of Adult Swim cartoons. Oh, and it’s hilarious to boot.

Chernobyl
Number Of Seasons: 1 (Only two episodes are out at the time of writing)
Description: A dramatized version of the nuclear plant disaster that occurred in Soviet Ukraine in April 1986.
Why It’s Good: People have been all over this show recently, saying it’s better than anything they’ve ever seen on HBO. And a bunch of people on the internet can’t be wrong, right?

Arrested Development
Number Of Seasons: 5
Description: The dysfunctional Bluth family needs their defacto head, Michael, to lead them through troubling, yet comedic, times.
Why It’s Good: One of the funniest shows on television in a while, you will absolutely fall in love with every single character. My favorite is Lucille.
Where to Watch: Netflix
Vikings
Number Of Seasons: 5
Description: Viking Ragnar Lothbrok is on a quest for power, land, and freedom.
Why It’s Good: It’s everything you’d want in a show about Vikings: violence, drama, war. It’s the perfect thing to fill that Game Of Thrones fantasy hole.
Where to Watch: Amazon Prime, Hulu
Frontier
Number Of Seasons: 3
Description: A story about Jason Mamoa as Declan Harp and his attempts to get into the 18th-century fur trading business.
Why It’s Good: Khal Drogo fans will love this brutal depiction of 18th-century life in this here country.
Where to Watch: Netflix
Happy!
Number Of Seasons: 2
Description: A corrupt, drunken cop and his daughter’s imaginary friend go on a journey to save her from an evil Santa Claus.
Why It’s Good: It’s gritty, it’s dark, but it’s set on Christmas and stars a cartoon imaginary horse. The weird factors are off the charts here, but it’s not an alienating type of weird. It’s a perfect juxtaposition.
Where to Watch: Syfy, Netflix
