I’ve always wished that I could sew better. Somehow I never inherited that gene from my mom who used to make my costumes when I was a kid.
So I’m always very impressed by people who can make themselves outfits either from scratch or by upcycling various garments. There’s a lot I need to learn from talented folks like these.
1. This Taylor Swift Number

This is what happens when you’re inspired by your favorite celebrity. This lady really loved Taylor Swift’s dress so she made herself an exact replica of it. I think she pretty much looks like Taylor’s doppelganger here.
2. This Prom Dress

Just like wedding dresses prom dresses can cost a pretty penny — if you’re not careful. It’s easy to get carried away when you find something you like. How about this totally home-made dress instead? I think it’s pretty gorgeous.
3. This Engagement Dress

Engagement photo shoots can be so lovely and romantic. Am I right? I was actually thinking of having one too. I haven’t picked out my outfit yet so I’m still debating on it. This dress is so dramatic and beautiful.
4. This Cool Raincoat

I’ve seen people make totes out of broken umbrellas but this coat makes even more sense. When you make it out of broken umbrellas it pretty much ensures it will be rainproof. That’s such a chic raincoat.
5. This Fancy Robe

This lady had some fun while making this stunning robe. She pictured herself as one of those “my rich husband died of mysterious circumstances” women and designed this lacy special number. I absolutely love it. Don’t you?
6. This Twirl-Worthy Coat

I wish I had mad sewing skills like this lady so I could make myself a beauty of a coat like this one. She used a wool blend fabric, flannel interlining, and flannel back satin lining.
7. This Bomber Jacket

Let’s not leave out the guys from making this DIY fashion designers list. This guy fell in love with this fun fabric and decided to make himself the most unique bomber jacket around. I think it’s the bomb indeed!
8. This Red Lace Number

Doesn’t this gorgeous red lace dress look totally store-bought? I would have thought so. As it turns out this lady made it out of old thrifted lace curtains and scrap lining. Wow, I’m pretty impressed here.
9. This Dior-Inspired Dress

This lady was so inspired by the image of a lady created by Christian Dior in 1947 that she made her own dress to represent it. I think she’s on the right path with this one here.
10. This Two-Toned Top

This lady feels very accomplished since she was able to make this two-toned top from two men’s shirts. I can’t believe how nice it came out. I absolutely love the puffed sleeves and how flowy it looks.
11. This Fun Number

How awesome is this pretty and colorful number here? This beautiful lady made herself the sweetest little dress that was self-drafted using no pattern. She made it from scratch using kente fabric. I think it’s so nice.
12. This Wedding Dress

Some people spend a ton on their wedding dress. We’re talking about hundreds if not thousands of dollars. You can definitely do that if you want or you can make your own beautiful gown as this lady did.
13. This ‘Belle’ Dress

Can you believe this lady actually made a ‘Belle’ dress from Beauty and the Beast ? I can’t get over it. It’s like the work of an artist or something. This must’ve taken a long time to finish so masterfully.
Oh wow, I absolutely love all these amazing creations here!
I’m not embarrassed to admit that I envy these people’s sewing skills. If only I could make myself something as cool as they did. I would be so thrilled with it.
