1. Both Chris and Liam Hemsworth auditioned for *Thor*.
At first, Liam was firmly in the running to beat out his brother. Chris supposedly wasn’t even on Kenneth Brannagh ‘s shortlist after his first audition.
Yet somehow, Chris managed to defy the odds, thus becoming the Thor we know and love!
Alexander Skarsgard was in the running as well!
When asked to confirm rumors surrounding his audition for the part, Skarsgard said
“Yeah, I met with Kevin a few times and the director. There was definitely some truth in that, yeah.”
Supposedly there’s even an audition tape that shows Alexander in full costume!
2. There’s an important Easter Egg hidden in *Iron Man 2*.
It happens fast and is gone in an instant. But there’s a moment where you can see a digital screen lit up behind Tony’s head.
One of the land markers is Wakanda, Black Panther’s country of origin!
3. Director Jon Favreau insisted that Robert Downey Jr. star in *Iron Man*.
“Everybody knew he was talented… Certainly by studying the Iron Man role and developing that script I realized that the character seemed to line-up with Robert in all the good and bad ways. And the story of Iron Man was really the story of Robert’s career.”
4. Jeremy Renner trained with Olympic archers for the role of Hawkeye.
“Real archery is not superhero Hawkeye archery,” Jeremy said. “So kind of helped but it kind of got in the way, as well. I did train to shoot arrows.”
Jeremy has a point: Clint Barton’s moves can’t be taught.
5. There’s an ongoing *Star Wars* Easter Egg that you probably missed.
In every single Phase 2 Marvel movie, someone gets their hand chopped off.
This started out as an unintentional homage to Luke Skywalker and over the years has since become one of the most beloved Easter Eggs of the franchise.
6. It took nearly 5 hours to apply Dave Bautista’s makeup in the first *Guardians Of The Galaxy*.
Dave Bautista apparently became very close with his makeup crew and I don’t blame him! I don’t spend that much time with my own family members.
Apparently, by the time the sequel rolled around, they had Dave down to only 90 minutes in the chair.
7. Tom Holland found out he had landed the role of Spider-Man via an Instagram post.
“Marvel just posted a photo saying go to our website and find out who the next Spider-Man is,” Tom said.
“I went on the Marvel website on my computer and there it was: The new Spider-Man is Tom Holland .”
8. The soundtrack to *The Guardians Of The Galaxy* sold an insane amount of copies.
It was so wildly popular that it sold over one million digital copies. Guardians of the Galaxy was only the second film to ever do this.
What was the first film, you ask? Frozen .
9. There’s a version of *Guardians Of The Galaxy* that only James Gunn and Vin Diesel have.
This script would literally be worth its weight in gold!
Maybe one day they’ll be a special subtitle release of Guardians of the Galaxy that will answer all our questions.
10. Chris Evans turned down the role of Captain America, twice!
He was hesitant to make such a huge commitment to a film franchise. It isn’t all fun and games being a superhero.
The studio persisted an eventually wore him down!
11. *Arrested Development* and *Captain America: Civil War* exist in the same universe.
Watch closely during the airport fight scene. If you look carefully, you’ll see the signature stair car, emblazoned with The Bluth Company logo!
Can you imagine if Cap had called Tony a “chicken”? I would have lost it!
12. Chris Pratt had to get in serious shape for *Guardians Of The Galaxy*.
Chris lost an astonishing 60 pounds for the part of Star-Lord. He was working out 3-4 hours a day, eating high caloric meals, and drinking a ton of water.
“I was peeing all day long, every day. That part was a nightmare.”
13. There’s a *Black Panther* bible.
In order to get a sense of the history and the people of Wakanda, production designer Hannah Beachler set to work .
She created a 500-page encyclopedia that explained absolutely everything from the topography to the geography.
14. Vin Diesel recorded his lines in several different languages.
This was done so that movie-going audiences around the world would all be able to experience Groot in the same way.
It’s kind of sweet when you think about it: we all both know and don’t know what Groot is saying every time he speaks.
