Sure, there are trilogies out there that are pretty darn good. Lord Of The Rings , the Nolan Batman trilogy, the original and prequel trilogies for Star Wars …
But then there are some that barely make a trilogy or franchises that go on for way to darn long.
These are the movies that made us say “enough”.
1. ‘Friday After Next’

Even if we hadn’t had enough by the second movie, doing a third was just way too much.
The first Friday was a classic, the second one was meh and this one… Just hot trash.
2. ‘Batman & Robin’

So you’ve got the first two Burton Batman movies, and they’re a jam.
Then you’ve got Batman Forever , which is also a jam.
Then… well, then you’ve got this mess. Not worthy of being in this franchise.
3. ‘Poltergeist III’

The fact that most people have no idea that this movie exists (they also have no idea there is a Poltergeist II , for that matter) is a testament to how poorly this movie was received.
4. ‘Jaws: The Revenge’

It seems that the quality of the Jaws movies went down with every sequel, by leaps and bounds.
The first was a masterpiece and the second was just a cringe session the whole way through.
5. ‘Home Alone 3’

The first two are classics. Absolute classics.
And then we got the third. Still written by John Hughes, but lacking a couple of key elements: no Kevin McCallister and no Joe Pesci.
6. ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’

Remember the hype for this movie?
“Oh wow Optimus Prime is the bad guy and he has a big sword wow so cool.”
And then it ended up being so, so bad.
7. ‘A Good Day to Die Hard’

You know it’s going to be a bad time when they throw in the original hero’s son.
It usually means they made a sequel way too late, and now they’re just grasping at straws.
8. ‘Little Fockers’

Oi vey. If people weren’t done with this series after the first one (alright fine, Meet The Fockers was okay) then they were definitely done with this installment.
A classic case of trying to capture the beauty of the original.
9. ‘Terminator Genisys’

It was tempting to put Terminator III or Terminator: Dark Fate in this spot, but this one was definitely the moment where fans dropped the series.
Capitalizing definitely failed here.
10. ‘Rocky V’

Oh, boy, did this one hurt.
Stallone was on a tear– Rocky wins Best Picture, Rocky II is a blast, Rocky III has Mr. T (so it’s obviously amazing).
Then ‘Rocky IV’ comes out and you’re swelling with American pride.

And then… this piece of garbage comes out.
What the heck, Stallone? You were doing so darn well! What happened?
11. ‘Vacation’

So you remember that whole “son” thing I mentioned a couple of slides ago? That principal applies here as well.
What the creators of this dumpster fire failed to realize was that we weren’t there for slapstick…
We were there for slapstick as well as Chevy Chase’s reaction to the slapstick.

As well as his funny one-liners and out of character swears.
We were there for the heart. And what we got was corporate crud.
12. ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Yeah, I said it. Star Wars fans might come for me for this one, but this one and The Last Jedi were both flops.
What’s that? Well, of course, I’m going to go see Rise Of Skywalker .
Might as well get this ordeal over with.
13. ‘Superman Vs. Batman’

Yeah, we all saw this one coming. Actually, you know what, people were already done with the franchise after Man Of Steel … so does this one really count?
Sure it does, people assumed it would be good.
And yet, it wasn’t.

Do you remember the backlash that came out after this movie? So many people hated it and thought it was way too slow-moving.
Why did they even make an attempt at Justice League after this movie?
14. ‘Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare’

I think people were pretty down on the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise by the… which movie was this? The sixth?
Oh yeah, this movie was going to be bad. And it was!
15. ‘D3: The Mighty Ducks’

What’s that? Emilio Estevez actually agreed to be in this bad, bad sequel? Well, what did he expect?
That they would manage to capture the beauty of the first? Yeah, it didn’t work.
16. ‘RoboCop 3’

Not even Frank Miller could save this piece of trash. Is it any surprise that this movie was the lowest-grossing in the entire Robocop franchise?
No? Alright, moving on then.
17. ‘Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan’

Another horror franchise that lived way past its prime, it’s the answer to: “how many sequels are too many?”
If you do one after your character goes to Space, that’s too many.
18. ‘Scary Movie 5’

The first three were great. Heck, the fourth one wasn’t all that bad.
But the franchise started going downhill after the Wayans left, and this was the bomb that killed it off.
19. ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’

Yeesh. What a terrible movie. For those of us who managed to get through this horrendous piece of trash, we were worse off for it.
Truly a shame, it could have been great… but probably not.
20. ‘Son of the Mask’

While you may not consider The Mask a “franchise”, this movie almost turned it into one. But it was a really bad failure.
It took all the charm the original had and sucked it out. It sucked hard.
21. ‘The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence)’

While it may be hilarious to watch, this movie was just too much. In fact, the second movie was too much.
You know what? The first movie was too much. There are some things that humans just don’t need to see.
22. ‘I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer’

Made a whopping 8 years after the sequel, people didn’t really even like the 2nd installment all that much.
And yet, they thought the third would be the crowning achievement of the franchise.
It wasn’t.

In fact, it made little to no money and critics panned it.
Jeez, will this guy just let go of what those kids did last summer? Maybe focus on another season?
23. ‘Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow’

There were 7 bloody Police Academy movies? Jeez, these movies have more complex lore than Lord Of The Rings !
Anyways, people were fed up with Police Academy by the 7th installment. Took them long enough!
24. ‘Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem’

While it may not be the worst movie on this list, it was definitely a step way too far.
The first AVP was… well, it was pretty good. Right? Can we agree on that?
But this one stunk.

It was way too dark, the characters and plot sucked and to boot it was directed by some guys who had previously shot a Nickelback video.
If that isn’t a recipe for destruction, I don’t know what is.
25. ‘Halloween: Resurrection’

And rounding out the horror franchises that went on way too long is this stinker, which was universally panned by critics.
It was a shameless money grab and we are all trying very hard to forget it.
26. ‘Amityville 3-D’

There are a lot of Amityville movies out there, and a lot of them are really bad. But this one is probably the worst of the series.
Here’s a tip: if your movie contains “3D” in the name, it’s probably going to be bad.
27. ‘King Kong Lives’

While the original 1933 movie is considered by many to be a masterpiece, this one was… er… well, it wasn’t one.
In fact, a lot of people think that it sucks.
