There are a ton of movies out there that will stand the test of time.
And some that will make you feel really, really old. That’s what this list is for. To just make the reality of your age really set in.
So buckle up and enjoy the ride.
1. ‘Almost Famous’

The semi-autobiographical movie about the life of writer/director Cameron Crowe was not only a jam of a movie, but it was also a breakout role for Kate Hudson.
“I am a Golden God!”
2. ‘American Psycho’

This part hysterical part horrifying movie about greed and murder is turning twenty in a couple of days!
Man, this book was awesome and this movie was probably even better!
3. ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’

There was a time when this movie held the record for the most Academy Award nominations of all time.
And it was just some martial arts movie! Truly, it was impressive.
4. ‘Erin Brokovich’

A movie that would go on to inspire women everywhere, Julia Roberts rightfully won a couple of awards for her portrayal of the real-life lady.
Ah, the year 2000. Such a better time.
5. ‘Gladiator’

The best picture to come out of the year 2000, it was a historical drama that dared to ask the question: “Are you not entertained?”
Uh, yeah. I guess we were.
6. ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’

Oh, man! This movie was a total and complete jam!
Criminally underrated, it’s a comedy based on the Odyssey but put into like the American South in the 1920s. And that song! So nice!
7. ‘Remember the Titans’

Playing sports in the early 2000s was awesome because we had this movie to fire us up before every game.
Going onto the field with “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” stuck in our heads…
8. ‘Miss Congeniality’

Before we had an influx of FBI agents doing things on TV (oh who am I kidding, that’s always been TV) we had Sandra Bullock going undercover as a Miss America contestant.
9. ‘Meet the Parents’

The movie that really proved Robert De Niro could do comedy, it made us laugh, it made us cry and it started a whole new franchise of movies.
I’m watching you Focker!
10. ‘X-Men’

The first in what would be a new genre to make money, this was the film that really put Marvel on the map.
And then in 2008 the real movie to put Marvel on the map came out.
11. ‘Charlie’s Angels’

Unlike some Charlie’s Angels’ I know, this one did pretty darn well. It was a fun, upbeat reboot with three leading actresses that went on to do some great things.
Not that they weren’t in 2000.
12. ‘Cast Away’

Tom Hanks was already America’s Sweetheart before this movie, but this movie didn’t hurt his position at all.
However, he will now have to hear “Wilson” jokes for the rest of his life.
13. ‘Bring It On’

Anyone who was a cheerleader, or heck any girl who played sports back in the early 2000s would probably watch this movie to get fired up.
For us boys, it was Remember The Titans .
14. ‘The Beach’

The sad thing about this Leo DiCaprio movie is the beach it was shot on, Maya Bay has been closed since 2018 and won’t reopen until 2021.
Why? Because of what tourists did to it.
