The Harry Potter movies are filled with magic, adventure, drama, action, and even love.
But another thing that they are filled with? Mistakes. And lots of them. Not even the magic of movie-making could wash them away. And apparently, there’s no spell for it, either.
1. Harry’s Shirt
During the scenes where he’s having visions about the Dept. of Mysteries, Harry starts the scene wearing a short sleeve, crew neck T-shirt.
However, when he’s awoken by the vision of Voldemort, he’s wearing a buttoned Henley tee.
2. Bellatrix’s Face
During the scene where Harry and Sirius are looking at the Black family tree, you see Bellatrix’s face on the tree… but only in the close-up.
In the wide shots, it’s not there.
3. Hermione’s Legs Disappear
In the scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermione are introduced to Grawp, the giant lifts Hermione from the ground… and her legs disappear.
In fact, you can even see the digital line where they started the effect.
4. Where Is Harry’s Wand?
After the moment where Harry points his wand at the dementor and scares it away with a Patronus, he puts his wand at his side.
Or does he? In the next shot, it’s up and behind him.
5. Voldemort’s FIlling
During the dueling scene with Voldemort, there’s a moment when the Dark Lord opens his mouth and laughs at Dumbledore…and we see his filling.
Didn’t he just acquire this body?
6. What Position Are The Wands In?
At the moment where Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville, and Luna are in Umbridge’s office, their confiscated wands keep changing positions in every shot.
Does the evil teacher just keep moving them?
7. Where’s The Spoon?
There’s a moment when Harry comes in for detention and Umbridge adds sugar to her tea.
She places the spoon on the saucer and says a line… but then the spoon is gone.
It reappears later.
8. Dudley’s Shorts
In the first scene, when Dudley and Harry have their first confrontation, Dudley is in these cool designed shorts.
However, later in the movie when they’re in the tunnel, the design has completely changed.
9. The Window’s Trim
During the scene where Harry is getting an Occlumency lesson with Snape, the windows at first have this vertical trim.
However, later in the scene, the trim on the windows disappear.
10. The Wand Changes Position
This mistake happens during the fight with the dementors.
When Harry’s wand first hits the ground, note the cracks in the concrete around it. Because in the next shot, its position has changed.
11. The Moving Picture Frame
In the scene where Harry is stuck in Umbridge’s office doing lines, on her desk is a picture of her beloved Cornelius.
In one shot, it’s far away from the center of the desk, in the next, it’s much closer.
12. Where Are Harry and Seamus sitting?
During the Welcoming Feast, at first Seamus and Harry have some distance between them.
However, when Dumbledore says “Good evening, children” the boys are suddenly sitting right next to each other.
13. The Magic Puddle
There’s a scene where Harry and Arthur Weasley are heading towards the sidewalk with the Ministry’s phone booth when a puddle suddenly appears in a place where they walked before!
And yes, the place was puddle-less when they walked over it originally.
14. Do They Have Textbooks?
In the scene where Dolores Umbridge hands out the textbooks using her wand, we see Harry and Ron picking them up and looking at them.
In the next shot, there are no textbooks in their hands.
15. Harry Switches Positions
When Ron, Harry, and Hermione first go into the forest to meet Grawp, Harry is standing next to Ron and Hermione.
In the next shot, he’s about 5 feet from where he was.
16. Which Part Of Stark Are You At, Harry?
Alright, so there’s this scene in a tunnel where Harry is being lifted off the ground by a Dementor.
In the background, there’s a piece of graffiti on the wall that says “Stark” (no relation to Ned Stark…probably).
When he falls to the ground initially, his feet are at the “K.”
However, when we cut to the closeup of the wand (a shot later) he’s closer to the “S.”
17. The Boy With The Brown Hair
When all the students are leaving the Room of Requirement and they’re thanking Harry, the group of students keeps changing.
One notable thing about this mistake is that a boy with brown hair passes Harry twice.
18. The Door At King’s Cross
When Padfoot runs through the door at King’s Cross, the door is actually quite open.
However, when Harry runs in behind him, the door is closed almost completely shut.
19. The Tiles
During the duel with Voldemort at the Ministry, there are some tiles around Harry that get broken.

However, in a different shot, we see that it was different tiles that were broken.
20. The Postions
There’s a point where Moody, Harry, Tonks and the gang are all standing in front of 12 Grimmauld Place and their positions keep changing.
Seriously, it’s like they were trying to make jump cuts.
21. Where Is Harry’s Arm?
At the moment where the Death Eaters are swirling around the kids and snatching them up, in one shot Harry lies on the ground with his arm under his head.
However, in the next shot, his head is lying on the ground.
Sure, he could have moved his arm, but the cuts were too fast for him to do it so quickly.
22. Strings On Candles
Right before Dumbledore introduces Umbridge, if you look to where Snape is standing, you can see the strings holding up a candle.
In fact, if you look closely enough, you can see three candles being held up.
23. The Way They Hold The Broomsticks
When the Order first gets their broomsticks and they’re walking out into the open, they start by holding their broomsticks pretty low.
In the next shot, they’re holding the brooms higher up.
24. The Gap
After the moment where Dumbledore and Umbridge have a standoff about Sybill Trelawny, he turns back to the castle.
There’s this huge group of kids in front of him blocking the way…
But in literally the next shot, a huge gap has appeared in front of him where the crowd used to be.
Too fast for the students to have moved… unless they teleported.
25. Harry’s Lying Lies
When Voldemort leaves Harry’s body near the end, he’s lying on his back. But when Ron, Ginny, Luna, and Hermione looked at him, he’s lying on his side.
Did he get more comfortable to deal with his pain?
26. The Daily Prophet Shouting
There’s a scene where the heroes are walking through the Ministry, where someone is selling the Daily Prophet, hollering about it.
When we cut to the next shot, he’s talking to someone but the audio still plays his attempts to sell it.
27. Hold Me Back!
After Sirius falls through the veiled archway, when Lupin grabs onto Harry at first, his arm is across his chest. But in the next shot, his arm is under Harry’s.
28. Wands Change Hands
Once the Christmas holiday starts, Harry compliments Dumbledore’s Army for their hard work.
When they clap, their wands change hands between shots. Quicker than they could have switched them over.
29. The Flowers
When the Dursleys first leave in their car, the flowers by their house are big and white.
Later, when Harry, Moody, Tonks and the gang leave, the flowers are red and small.
