While the film was based on a large age gap between the two main characters, things were still weird. Mena was 18 during filming while Spacey was 40.

Disney fans couldn’t deny the chemistry between the “highschoolers” Chad and Taylor.
But since Bleu was 17 and Coleman was 28, it caused for some awkward moments. Thankfully, the pair got through it and are still great friends off set.
Emmy Rossum, Gerard Butler, and Patrick Wilson – *The Phantom of the Opera*
Emmy Rossum was only 16 when she was cast as Christine. Meanwhile, Gerard was 31 and Patrick Wilson was 27.
Learning this information made the onscreen kiss she shared with both actors very weird for fans.
Emaline Addario and Kate Messner – *Everything Sucks!*
Everything Sucks! saw Addario and Messner playing two high schoolers with quite the romantic interest in one another.
This was despite of the fact that there is a six-year gap between 14-year-old Messner and 20-year-old Addario.
Madison Reyes and Charles Gillespie – *Julie And The Phantoms*
There is a six-year age gap between the two stars of this show: Reyes is 16 while Gillespie is 22.
As a result, the show has made the right move by making their characters unable to kiss until Reye turns 18 because of legal consent issues.
Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp – *Pirates of the Caribbean*
Knightley was just 17 when she took on the role of Elizabeth Swan in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Since her love interest, Depp, was 40 at the time, even he found their kiss to be uncomfortable.

Playing the love interests, John and Claire, was super awkward for Molly who was just 16 while Nelson was 25.

It is very strange that a 21-year-old Jared Leto taught 14-year-old Claire Danes how to kiss back in 1994.
Danes spoke on the matter on The Howard Stern Show , saying that “he [Leto] seemed ancient” at the time and that he thought the kiss scene was “ridiculous.”
Rider Strong and Trina McGee – *Boy Meets World*
Rider Strong was clearly still a boy when he found himself in an on-screen romance with Trina McGee at 17.
Meanwhile, Trina was in her late 20s. Despite this, Strong has nothing but compliments towards the actress even saying, “Trina entering my life was huge.”
