This world is full of so many wonders , even if some of them don’t actually seem… real. Like, some of the things you can find out in the world don’t feel like they belong in this world.
This list has a bunch of strange , otherworldly things. But the funny thing is that they’re all from our humble little blue planet.

Yeah, this strange gourd doesn’t look like something that should be found in this world. More like, from some kind of storybook dimension or something. Then again, gourds (and mushrooms for that matter) just seem otherworldly in general.
“A very big and very old wasp nest found in an abandoned house.”
Honestly, I really wish wasps lived in another universe. They’re so annoying, and keep bugging me while I’m trying to live my life.
And their nests always look so strange and creepy. Nothing about them is natural!
“A man dressed in a suit handed out 1000s of these in Sheffield asking, ‘do you want to play?'”
Yeah… if you’re one of the millions of people who have seen Squid Game recently, then you probably know where this is going. Though, I’m sure whatever event they’re holding on November 4th won’t be that deadly (or deadly at all).
“Gold turns purple when it is heated in a vacuum to make plasma.”
I wouldn’t believe in a million years that there’s gold in that vacuum heater thingy. Science never ceases to amaze me. It’s almost like magic, except you can explain it if you try really hard.
Whether people will get the explanation is a whole other story.
“This is what an axolotl looks like if it morphs. We call him Gollum.”
This world is honestly full of the strangest things ever. Like, I can’t believe that axolotls exist. They’re real creatures that actually roam around somewhere on the planet. How amazing is that?
This little guy looks a bit creepy, but also a bit cute.
“Himalayan monkey flowers. They blossom once every 20 years.”
So you’re telling me. That there are actual flowers. That * naturally look like monkeys? How is that even possible? Like, how do those flowers know to look like monkeys?
I swear, my mind has been blown a good 800 times thanks to this list.
“Some crazy street signs.”
I’m pretty sure these street signs aren’t for actual streets or directions. Which is probably for the better, because they’re pretty confusing. I feel like they could actually lead you to another dimension, from which it would be really hard to come back.
“Black galaxy tomatoes. They are a basically normal red tomatoes, but the dark skin was created by introducing the pigment from blueberries.”
I’ve seen pictures of these black tomatoes all over the internet, and yet I still can’t believe they’re a real, edible fruit. The explanation in the caption here really helps me make sense of them, though.
“The way this packet of chips was sitting on the bench.”
I dunno. Maybe I’m too easily impressed. But looking at this has my mind blown as much as it was when I saw those monkey flowers.
It just looks really neat, okay? And super unlikely to happen.
“The way the snow slid off the hood.”
This… doesn’t seem like it should be a thing. I guess snow is just as big of a mystery as other things in the world, like clouds.
I’m guessing the fact that this snow looks kind of wet is why it was able to create a sheet effect.
“2:30am, midnight sun at the Arctic Circle.”
The fact that the poles can receive either nearly constant day or nearly constant night always amazes me. It doesn’t feel like it should be possible, and yet that’s literally how the Earth’s axis works. Man, this planet is such an amazing place.
“Wood ear fungus that really looks like an ear.”
I hate how much this wood ear mushroom looks like an actual ear. But at the same time, I kind of love it. It’s a pretty big ear, too, so it looks like it could belong to a giant or a troll or something. Neat!
“This beautiful leaf after a rain in North London.”
That leaf is really beautiful! Too beautiful, if you ask me. It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing we’d be able to find in this world. And yet, here it is, in all its glory.
“There is a completely different drink underneath the label.”
This feels like something we were never supposed to see. Like, some kind of forbidden can label. Or like it’s a break in the simulation or something. Maybe we should just pretend we never saw it…
“Layers of paint on an NYC subway pillar.”
I can’t be the only one who’s reminded of the different layers of the earth’s crust, right? I guess it’s just the way the different layers have red mixed in with dark blues and blacks.
“My bachelor’s degree is signed by Arnold Schwarzenegger.”
It’s so weird to think that there was a time when Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor of California. Like, that feels like it didn’t happen. But we have things like this to remind us that that was, in fact, part of this timeline.
“Here’s what the inside of a gas pump looks like.”
Once again, this feels like something we regular mortals shouldn’t be allowed to see. It’s almost like just looking at it will transport us to an alternate dimension, one where gas is an even bigger aspect of life than it already is.
“The lone locker in an empty hallway in my high school.”
Speaking of portals to another dimension, this is totally one. I mean, what other reason would there be for a lone locker to exist nowhere near the other lockers in a school? Renovations? Yeah right.
“Fungus that grew inside of an old bottle of ink, and then proceeded to seal itself inside using its mold…”
I’m kind of bummed that this is just a fungus inside an ink bottle, and not evidence that life on other planets exists. But oh well, at least it’s cool to look at…
“This street sign.”
There is absolutely a universe in which Tacon street really is Bacon street, and I kind of wish we lived in that one. As it is, though, I bet it confuses a lot of people who aren’t from the area.
“My new work flashlight is so bright you can see the veins in my hand when I cover it.”
Oh sure. Great excuse. This person totally isn’t a being from another world. They’re just someone flashing a flashlight through their hand, making it glow. Yeah, I believe it (not).
“This extra long squash!”
Okay, I know that squash has a strange habit of growing really long if you don’t harvest it, but this is ridiculous! To be honest, it looks a lot more like an extra long baguette than an extra long squash.
“Turned my head after feeling a nudge on my foot. Thankfully a bit of my sandwich made us friends lol.”
This bird looks pretty ominous (according to the comments on the original post, it’s a jackdaw). But it also looks kind of friendly. And really smart. And probably not of this world (like most birds, to be honest).
“An ominous locked hatch in my local park.”
There’s, like, a 99% chance that whoever opens that hatch will either be transported to another dimension, or will find a secret monster hideout. There’s no other possible explanation for this (especially not something *normal).
“Hala Fruit: The fruit that looks like an exploding planet.”
That’s not a fruit. That’s a dragon egg. You can’t convince me otherwise of that, either.
I wouldn’t want to be around when that obvious dragon egg hatches, since I don’t plan on being turned into a dragon’s barbecue dinner.
“This useless staircase I found in the wild.”
Possible explanation for this staircase: it got partially buried when people decided they didn’t need it anymore.
Alternate explanation for this staircase: It’s proof that our dimension is slowly converging with another one.
Hopefully it isn’t the latter….
“This dinosaur-shaped tissue sample I got in histology class.”
This is obviously not a tissue sample. It’s a zoomed-in shot of an ultra tiny dinosaur that wanted to say hello. Thanks to the dye on the sample, it’s all purple, so it’s reminding me of Barney, if he looked more realistic.
“These carrots I just picked from my garden.”
These carrots look like they’re ready to run, dance, and frolic around. As if they’re the bottom halves of humans or something.
Or. What if they’re tiny gnomes or fairies? Yeah, that would make way more sense.
“I think my PC has something evil in it.”
I’m sure it’s just the inner components of the computer, and not some kind of small, computer gremlin that’s biding its time, waiting for an opportunity to escape and wreak havoc on an unsuspecting world. Yeah, totally nothing to worry about.
“This picture of a lightbulb I took, that looks like there is a galaxy within.”
In all seriousness, this is actually a really pretty picture. It looks more like we’re staring at some faraway planet than the inside of a lightbulb. Like, if you told me this was a picture taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, I’d believe it.
