It finally happened: The Big Bang Theory’s , Mayim Bialik was the latest star to guest host Jeopardy .
She’s one of the most qualified celebs to do so, given her academic background of having a Ph. D. in neuroscience .
So, how did she measure up? You better bet that Jeopardy fans weighed in online with many reactions, including, “Didn’t expect this.”
The gameshow *Jeopardy* has been on the air for more than 37 years.
Since its inception, Jeopardy had been hosted by Canadian-born Alex Trebek. Alex holds the Guinness World Record for “Most Game Show Episodes Hosted by the Same Person;” he had more than 8000 under his belt.
As many fans undoubtedly already know, late last year *Jeopardy* host Alex Trebek lost his battle with cancer.
Since Alex’s untimely departure, various celebrities have been brought in to try and fill the void.
Stars like the Green Bay Packers own Aaron Rodgers and former Jeopardy contestant Ken Jennings have been fan favorites so far.
Mayim Bialik knew she had big shoes to fill when she agreed to guest host *Jeopardy*.
“Everybody kind of holds his energy present on that stage. You still feel him there, and I think I really just wanted to discreetly and humbly take that podium,” she told USA Today about the late Alex Trebek.
Last month, Mayim finally got her chance to host the iconic gameshow.
“To be considered to be part of it in any way is such an immense honor ,” Mayim explained via YouTube.
“Especially for someone who’s dedicated so much of my life to academia, to knowing things, to be able to communicate things.”
For those who may not know, Mayim is referring to the fact that she has a Ph.D. in neuroscience.
That’s right, Mayim doesn’t just play a genius on TV, she really is one in real life!
Mayim says that her education used to come in handy while filming The Big Bang Theory — especially when it came to fact-checking .
So far, she hasn’t let fans — or the late host — down.
Judging by these reactions, fans loved her first episode. “Loving Mayim Bialik as the Jeopardy host!” tweeted one user .
“Of course she’d be great. She’s sweet, personable & very smart,” someone else added .
Viewers are even naming her their favorite out of all the celeb guest hosts.
“Mayim Bialik is doing great! Smart, controlled and confident. One of the best cohosts by far,” one wrote . Another shared that they “didn’t expect this” but that she’s their favorite guest host so far.
She even got the highest compliment of all: that Alex Trebek would be proud.
Fans will be excited knowing that she will be guest hosting for two weeks until June 11.
That’s nine more episodes! We can’t wait to see how she tackles her role next!
Since her debut, many fans are now calling for Mayim to be made the new permanent host of *Jeopardy*.
Fans everywhere feel that Mayim would be the optimal choice to replace Alex Trebek, full-time.
She has the personality, as well as the credentials to absolutely shine.
One fan pointed out that the best thing for *Jeopardy* would be if a strong, intelligent woman took over.
In the history of TV game shows, only a small handful have been hosted by women.
Moving Mayim into the driver’s seat would not only be beneficial for the show, but it would help to set a precedent.

But as of right now, no decisions have been made.
According to the word of executive producer (and former guest host) Mike Richards , no decision on a permanent replacement for Alex will be made until the end of summer, at the earliest.
