Weddings are one of those things people spend their entire lives dreaming about and then planning down to the last detail. And considering what they’re going to cost, they probably should be planned down to the last detail.
The only problem with that is that it doesn’t take much to ruin that plan. But it’s not often that you see one of the people involved in the wedding doing the ruining.
Weddings aren’t exciting for everybody, but the ceremony sure ought to be a big deal for at least two people in attendance that day.
It really doesn’t bode well for the future if either one of the bride or groom — or both — can’t work up a little excitement on the big day. Nerves are normal; indifference is not.
And it looks like that’s the battle one bride will be having to fight after a video from her wedding went viral.
In the video, her brand new husband is more than a bit distracted from the action of the day because he’s busy on his phone, playing Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds , an online multiplayer battle royale game that Nepal considered banning due to worries about addiction in kids.
This groom kind of makes you wonder if maybe kids aren’t the only ones who should be worried about addiction.
In the video, he’s not merely distracted; he’s so into the game that he swats away a wedding gift after a guest tries to get him to open it.

He’s so into the game, he has no desire to engage with the real, live people there to celebrate his matrimony.
Worse still is the look on the bride’s face when she realizes how engrossed he is.
Seriously, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a bride as unimpressed on her wedding day as this poor girl is. She looks like she wants to grab a bottle from the bar and make a dash for the nearest exit.
Now, I’m sure she isn’t the first wife to take issue with how much time her hubby is spending on video games.
But this is some next level nonsense.
Online, folks sure felt for the bride in this situation, and pointed to some of the problems they’ve witnessed with this game in their own lives, albeit a bit alarmist at times.
However, there have been other cases where PUBG has come between married couples as well.
In Washington state, a woman was arrested after stabbing her boyfriend with a katana because she suspected him of cheating on her and for playing too much PUBG, Kotaku reported.
And in the United Arab Emirates, a woman filed for divorce after a dispute with her husband over the amount of time she spent playing PUBG turned violent, according to Gulf News .
PUBG isn’t even the only game being blamed for marital issues.
As the BBC reported, couples in the U.K. are citing Fortnite as a reason for their breakups in increasing numbers — as many as 200 divorces since January 2018.
Of course, that’s still a tiny fraction of the overall number of divorces, but it’s still worth paying attention to.
The World Health Organization has even classified video gaming as a problem.
The WHO included “gaming disorder” in its international classification of diseases, defining it as “a pattern of gaming behavior (“digital-gaming” or “video-gaming”) characterized by impaired control over gaming, increasing priority given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities, and continuation or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative consequences.”
Pretty sure that groom qualifies.
