Life could always do with another improvement to make it just a bit easier. Be it tiny upgrades that we barely notice, to big design ideas that help not only us, but the environment, there are innovations being made every day.
Especially in Japan, as displayed by one TikTok user who’s dedicated to showing off all that Japan has to offer.
Highlighting Japan’s innovative designs is a hobby for one TikTok user.

Account @allstarseven is run by a man currently living in Japan and is filled with videos showcasing how different some things are there, including quality-of-life improvements that are beyond smart.
Let’s take a look at some of these designs that prove that Japan is years beyond the rest of us.
Like this ‘robot’ cafe.

As explained by the text in the video, the cafe small robot waiters who are controlled remotely by disabled employees who can’t work in person.
It’s an absolutely genius idea that provides a lot of opportunities for people, and the robots are cute too!
Or the brilliant way to reduce water usage.

In this video, he shows off a toilet with a sink built into the lid of the tank. When you flush the toilet, water runs to wash your hands, and that water is then put back into the tank to use for the next flush.
Speaking of bathrooms.

Public bathrooms more commonly feature seats for babies and hooks for bags, so parents aren’t left juggling everything when they’re simply trying to use the bathroom.
These seats and hooks are also inside the stall, so you’re not just leaving your baby out in public.
There are also cashierless stores.

Not just your standard self-checkout either, there’s no scanning required. Not by you, anyway, the console uses RFID scans to identify what you picked up and calculates your total that way.
As someone pointed out, Amazon is trying to create a similar system within their AmazonGo stores.
Lockers to keep umbrellas safe.

The video shows two rows of these umbrella lockers that feature a three-number combination that make for easy retrieval when leaving. They’re less bulky than traditional lockers, and take up way less space too, making it a win for everyone involved!
How about these fridges that open both ways?

A much smaller innovation, sure, but still amazing! Not only does it make life a little easier for left handed people who otherwise have to reach across, but the mechanics behind it are a mystery, making it all the much cooler.
This see-through design of some public bathroom stalls.

What appears to be transparent, albeit colorful, glass one moment turns opaque the next. It’s a style of public bathroom that allows you to easily check if it’s occupied or not. Once you lock the door, the glass makes it so no one else can see while you’re doing your business.
Not to mention capsule hotels.

Capsule hotels offer small pod-like ‘rooms’ for only $20 a night. You get access to a locker as well to keep your belongings in, and the room comes with a bag of necessities one might need. While it definitely looks like a tight fit, they’re surprisingly spacious, and it’s perfect for a cheap one-night stay!
