A Washington nail technician has revealed one of her clients showed up to her appointment just two days after testing positive for the deadly coronavirus, and informed the tech of this fact after she’d already gotten the manicure she so “desperately needed.”
As Allure reported, Taylor, a 26-year-old manicurist, shared the shocking text message she received from her client in which she revealed her positive COVID test, and advised the tech to quarantine herself.
Screenshots of their text exchange were originally posted on Taylor’s Facebook page but have since been deleted and re-posted to her Instagram.
“I feel really bad and should not have shown up for my appointment but I desperately needed my nails done,” reads the first message the unnamed woman sent Taylor. “I tested positive for the virus two days ago [so] please quarantine yourself.”
Taylor, understandably, did not react well to the news that her client had withheld such crucial information prior to the appointment.
After pointing out that she had, in fact, asked the woman ahead of time if she’d been exposed to the virus and was subsequently lied to, Taylor reminded her that she is immuno-compromised, making her even more susceptible to contracting the deadly disease.
Taylor’s response reflects the guidelines described in the state’s coronavirus policy.
According to Washington’s Phase 2 COVID-19 requirements for personal service providers, “clients must self-screen for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 before arriving at the service provider location.”
However, the woman’s follow-up message shows she believes she was still justified in withholding such crucial information from her nail tech.
“I was just desperate to get out of the house,” she insisted. “I was in quarantine for two days I’m sorry! I needed my nails done [so] bad! You saw how bad they were!
Let’s make sure we read that right.
So apparently, this woman had begun her ordered two-week quarantine following her positive virus test but quit after just a few days to go get a manicure, thus potentially exposing the nail tech and who knows how many others.

Taylor has since revealed that fortunately both she and the client wore masks during the appointment, which has offered some semblance of relief at this time.
However, in an interview with Allure , she admitted the whole ordeal has left her rightfully upset and disappointed.
This feeling deepened after speaking to other beauty workers who shared similar stories of potential exposure.
“It was very distressing to receive those messages,” Taylor said. “It is alarming to think there are people who don’t take other people’s safety seriously.”
Since that appointment, Taylor has been tested for the virus and has also stopped working as a safety precaution.
“This client has been reported to the proper authorities and I’m leaving it to them to help me handle this situation properly,” she added.
“I am hoping after my two-week quarantine that I will be able to take clients back on. My first concern is the safety of my clients, family members, and friends — first and foremost.”
