We love a woman who is willing to be vulnerable on social media!
Tori Spelling took to Instagram to talk about her insecurities when she was younger, and it resonated with a lot of her fans.
She started off with a classic phrase.

“Fake it till you make it…I was a young really insecure teenager that never thought I was good enough,” she wrote on Instagram.
I know we’re just getting started, but I already understand how she’s feeling.
She was outwardly successful.
“Yet, I was on a hugely successful tv show playing a beautiful popular teen that had it all together. A character that girls everywhere looked up too and boys adored.”
What was on screen wasn’t the truth.
“Off camera I didn’t feel at all beautiful or good about myself.”
We blame social media for a lot of things, but self-esteem issues go so much farther back — especially for celebrities.
She could turn the charm on.

“But, in this pic I was ALL IN for the camera! “ Playing ” Donna Martin would be model Goes to show that perception is not always reality.”
I love her pride in her past self.
She’s so happy for that girl.

“Now, I look back at that young insecure girl and I give her HUGE props. She stepped up and went for it.”
We should all celebrate the bravery of our past selves, no matter how small those moments may seem.
If only she could talk to her past self.
“I wish I could have off camera hugged her and told her she was good enough and was beautiful just the way she was.”
God, this is all so understandable. Being gentle with yourself is so key.
Being on TV added a lot of stress.
“Life is hard enough for teens living up to the expectations the world, society, and peers put on us… let alone being on camera weekly in front of millions,” she continued.
But she was so grateful for what she had.
“Don’t get me wrong… one of the best times of my life! So blessed and grateful for the successful tv series I got to be a part of and will always cherish the #90210 cast that became my family and friends and relationships that would continue for a lifetime.”
The on-screen confidence didn’t transfer off-screen.
” I just wish I wouldn’t have been so hard on myself. Let myself ‘off camera’ be the girl I felt I was ‘on camera.'”
She shared this photo along with the lengthy caption.

“Bc of Donna Martin I tell my girls everyday they are good enough, smart, beautiful, and can be anyone they want to be. But never be who everyone expects you to be! Be you.”
A certain fan loved her honesty…

Her husband, Dean McDermott!
“I would watch Beverly Hills 90210 because I had such a crush on this lady. Can’t believe she’s my wife now. #luckyman #dreamscometrue love you babe!!”
Her words resonated with so many people.

“So so so a hit home post. I spent a lot of years feeling insecure around peers…when I look back at pictures I realize I was was very pretty—I just held myself back from my full potential. ,” a fan wrote.
Some fans pointed out how much she helped them.

“You just don’t know how you positively affected so many of us, do you? I mean, yeah you were growing up yourself, but imagine how much you inspired us back then? That in itself is huge! Thank you @torispelling,” a fan wrote.
Actors have no idea how much characters help us through rough times!
This comment is so sweet and so true.

“We are always our worst critics. Looking back at our younger self we wish we could talk to that girl and let her know things will be better. BUT everything that happened shaped us to be the women we are. Strong and able to raise strong children. (I have all boys). You keep doing you. “
This sums it up.

“Wisdom of age and motherhood. You wear it well.”
She really does! A post like this means so much, because we don’t see celebrities open up on Instagram like this a lot. It’s amazing.
