Babies are adorable but they can be really loud, especially when they are not feeling well. Crying is their natural way of asking for comfort and care. Not everyone, however, is comfortable with the sound of a crying baby. Some may even go as far as wanting to call the police just to have their peace and quiet.
One man, who is known on Reddit as u/Crafty-Ocelot9612 , reached his breaking point after his neighbor’s sick newborn baby caused him and his family sleepless nights. With an elderly mom living in his home, it became difficult for him to be patient. In an effort to resolve his dilemma, he confronted the young couple and threatened to complain to the police.
The confrontation resulted in a bigger conflict, with his own wife giving him the silent treatment. Now, he is asking the subreddit community if he had been a jerk for asking his neighbors to be more considerate of his needs.

Why Do Babies Cry?

According to Kids Health , it is normal for newborns to cry two to three hours a day in their first six weeks. When crying lasts for more than three hours a day, it is defined as colic. Babies who are healthy can develop colic as well. This can be difficult for parents but the condition often goes away on its own after a couple of months.
“It’s important to know that colic is a common condition in young babies. It will go away on its own, often by age 3 months. In most cases it is gone by age 6 months,” explains Hopkins Medicine.
In the Redditor’s case, his neighbor’s baby had been suffering from constipation and other gastro issues. In his original post, he mentioned that healthcare professionals regularly visit the baby. It seems that the parents are doing what they can to make sure their child’s health issues are being monitored with home health visits. This is a clear indication that the baby is not being neglected.
The AITA community ruled that the OP had been insensitive toward his neighbors and maybe needed some therapy to deal with his own issues.
