Now look, I know Ellen DeGeneres is under a lot of fire recently, but this newly resurfaced tweet from 2009 may not be what it seems.
Of course, Ellen and her Emmy award-winning talk show have been under scrutiny amidst claims of a toxic work environment.
Needless to say, this viral throwback tweet could not have come at a worse time!
It’s no secret Ellen and her TV show have been under a microscope lately.
After two explosive Buzzfeed News articles were published last month, recounting stories from current and previous Ellen Show employees, fans have been on the lookout for incriminating evidence.
Now, a lil’ tweet from Ms. DeGeneres back in 2009 has gone viral. In it, Ellen claims to have made an employee of hers “cry like a baby.”

The tweet reads: “I made one of my employees cry like a baby on today’s show. Honestly, it felt good.”
Um, say what now?
Naturally, the internet was like *whaaaaaaaaaaaat*???
Without any context, this tweet could mean a lot of different things! Was it happy tears? Sad tears? Cutting onions tears?
WE MAY NEVER KNOW!
However, this couldn’t be worse timing for Ellen and her show, which are already on rocky territory.
Needless to say, this tweet has not aged well. To be fair, who could have known this is where we’d be in the world 11 years ago?!
Ellen has yet to comment on the whole loving to make an employee cry situation but if she does, you know we’ll keep you updated!
