We all do crazy things out of boredom. There’s a threshold that, once surpassed, allows our minds to free themselves and start going off the wall with possibilities.
Many of us don’t actually act on these possibilities, but some do. Here are some examples in this list of lowkey impressive things people did because they were bored.
“At 45 years old, I finally learned how to ollie.”
That’s way more than most of us can accomplish on a skateboard (without breaking something at least). Congrats!
“A ring made out of pringles.”
I’ve seen many a Pringles ring in my time and it still impresses me. That’s physics bending, it’s so neat!
“I made a pueblo out of clay for my Roborovski hamster.”
Commenters pointed out that this enclosure is too small, so the uploader expanded and even made another building to house a wheel! Nothing but the best for the mayor of this village.
“Astro turf on a truck???”
For decorative purposes, it’s kind of cute. Nothing like a little (fake) greenery to brighten up your errands!
“I built a solar-powered paddlewheel for my canoe.”
Whoa! The panel, the recycled materials, the crocs. This man is simply irresistible.
“Recently I learned that you can order just cheese from McDonalds.”
Can’t decide if the employees would find this funny and enjoy the ease of the order, or stare at your request wondering why, why on Earth someone would do this.
“My painter dad making the soup looking like Edvard Munch’s [“The Scream”].”
Well, how are you meant to eat it now? That’s a priceless work of art, it belongs in a museum!
“I make horrible things. Here’s a paintbrush you can lick people with.”
Yeah, that is a horrible thing. Like, a really, really horrible thing. I will never forget nor forgive this.
“Used my fingers to make a ‘drawing’ on velvet.”
Maybe finger painting in kindergarten did have its uses.
“Someone has drawn cartoon faces on all the cars in this snowy lot.”
I’d hate for my car to be the one in the middle, no one wants to drive home angry.
‘A piece of my swiss army knife’s handle chipped off, so I carved a dragon’s head in the plastic to hide it.”
Right, obviously that’s the easiest and most common response, to just become a sculptor and turn your tools into art.
“I decided to make a penguin army […].”
Who needs a guard dog or security cameras when this penguin army is sure to scare away any intruder?
“The 91 Gel Pens I fully used in my final year of High School.”
Oh, I just know your notes looked incredible. You were the envy of your graduating class.
“I used all the ink in a 4-in-1 pen.”
Yes, this is another finishing pen picture but this one is just so I can point out my shock that 4-in-1 pens still exist. I thought they stopped making these in the late 2000s.
“This Brooch I Found While Metal Detecting.”
Someone pointed out that this likely isn’t a brooch, but a belt or sash buckle for a dress. That doesn’t mean it can’t be a brooch now, though. Live your dreams.
“I made an electric guitar out of a cast iron frying pan.”
Put a shaker in that dog’s mouth and you’ve got yourself a band!
“I put little straw hats on my cactus.”
They look like a fancy little rural family who’s come into town to pick up some fresh produce.
