Restaurant settings are frequently a source of drama , for servers and customers alike . Thanks to social media, we’re able to get a glimpse into some of those stories without directly experiencing them.
The most recent example of this we’ve seen concerns a server who had a customer pull the ol’ dine and dash. Fortunately for the server, she wound up with some leverage.
Rule one of dining out: don’t dine and dash.

If you’re fully out of the loop, dining and dashing refers to eating somewhere and then not paying. It’s theft, it’s illegal, and it puts restaurants and servers into a tough spot.
A TikToker shared her experience with a dine and dasher.

TikToker @jurassicah shared her story recently, in a video that’s racked up more than a million likes. There isn’t much to the story: a customer dined, then dashed. Crucially, though, they left behind a pair of glasses.
She holds up the glasses in the video.

“To the girls who ran out and didn’t pay their tab, you left your glasses,” she said in the seven-second-long video. Then, she shows what happens to the glasses of dine and dashers.
She stomps all over the glasses.

Glasses are fragile, and by the time she’s done, it’s clear that these specs were irreversibly broken. She proved her point, but unless the owner of the glasses stumbles on this video, they’ll never know.
Commenters had some fun with the story.

The puns write themselves here. Should we talk about how this server is serving up revenge rather than appetizers, or the fact that the original owner of the glasses couldn’t have seen that coming? In any event, this is cathartic for any server who’s dealt with similar customers.
Some commenters weren’t having it.

Yes, this TikToker did destroy someone’s property, rather than selling or donating it, all for some TikTok fame. There’s a range of opinions expressed in the comments, and many of the top-rated ones are critical of the video.
She followed up.
In response to her critics, she released a second video .
“I’m literally a minimum wage worker trying to make my rent,” she says, explaining that the glasses were just cheap non-prescription specs that she destroyed for dramatic effect.
Her second video received more positive feedback.

All in all, the villain here is the person who decided not to pay for their meal, not the underpaid server who smashed up a cheap pair of disposable glasses. Most commenters this time around seemed to get it.
Here’s the original video.
If you like to see bad customers get their just desserts, or if you’re just a fan of seeing things get all smashed up, the original video is certainly worth a watch. It’s only a few seconds long.
Do you think her actions were warranted?

Most glasses wearers wouldn’t want to have someone destroy their glasses, but then again, it’s easy to argue that thieves get what they deserve.
