After all, there’s so much out there for us to learn about. Some of it’s important, some of it’s trivial, some sticks with you, and some is fleeting. In any case, it’s always good to stimulate the ol’ brain a little.

It’s truly incredible how the weird, viscous, slimy properties of eggs can interact with one another. In this case, the yolks are drawn together to form geometric patterns.

This is either the worst kind of fire or the worst kind of tornado, however you choose to parse it. In any case, fire tornadoes don’t look like the kind of thing you’d want to get close to.
Making a house a home.
The person who posted this pic says their dad has a tortoise and decided to build a cozy home, complete with a heat lamp and big window in the garden for it.
A leg up.
This elephant stepped on a land mine in Thailand, blowing away much of its front right leg. It’ll be able to walk better after this massive prosthetic leg gets strapped on.
Circulation is a weird thing.
The owner of this hand notes that their left pinky finger turns completely white in cold weather. For their pinky’s sake, I hope they wear gloves when it’s chilly.
Window revealing the past.
You see this at some historical ruins and it’s a brilliantly simple idea. It requires no power and very little upkeep, and provides an idea of how things used to look.
Look closer.
This house appears to have some abstract, or maybe just upside-down, art painted on the outside. But when you look at its reflection in the water, everything becomes clear.
Sit in the shade.
During hot weather, these sheep basically spend all day chasing the shadow of this windmill around. It just goes to show that humans aren’t the only creatures who enjoy sitting in the shade.
Modern meets vintage.
On the outside, this house looked pretty unremarkable. But when demolitions commenced, the siding was torn away to reveal a 1700s cabin underneath the more modern trappings.
Kaboom!
This remarkable pic was snapped at Rattlesnake Lake in Washington state. It shows a meteor at the exact moment that it exploded, splitting itself into two.
Staying on their own turf.
This GPS data shows the movements of six different wolf packs at Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota. It’s fascinating how each pack seems to have its own territory.
Pile of pain.
This is about as close as you’d ever want to get to a pile of hundreds of Portuguese man-o-war jellyfish. One false step and the photographer would be in a world of pain.
Ahead of its time.
This Buick from 1986 (!) featured a full touchscreen computer in the dashboard. The technology didn’t take off and it was quickly discontinued. A few decades later and things have changed considerably.
