Well, that would have been the case if it wasn’t 2020, the year of COVID-19. Museums are closed and virtually everyone’s been advised to hunker down.
Thanks to the magic of the internet, you can still experience some of the world’s most iconic museums through the magic of Google’s Arts & Culture site.
The Art Institute of Chicago
Virtual visitors to The Art Institute of Chicago can check out influential works like Georges Seurat’s A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte — a 19th century depiction of people gathering together, something we hope we’ll be able to do soon.
Musée d’Orsay, Paris
The Musée d’Orsay opened its doors in 1986 and is home to numerous works of fine art. Seen here is American artist James McNeill Whistler’s portrait of his mother. I remember this piece mainly for the fact that Mr. Bean destroyed it in a movie once.
