If you’re wondering why trees are growing in the middle of Kazakhstan’s Kaindy Lake, it’s because the lake is young. It was formed back in 1911 after an earthquake in the area.

This tree looks like it’s a failure, but it really has no choice. In parts of Western Australia, the winds blow so consistently that unprotected trees grow horizontally.
Skunky boi.
This is a melanistic red fox. Because of a melanin imbalance, the fox isn’t red at all, but fully black. I’ll bet a few people have mistaken this one for a large, predatory skunk.

The MS World Discoverer traveled the world for years, but after striking a rock in the Solomon Islands, this little cove is the last place it’ll discover. The ship has been lying like this for years.
Picture of the past.
These engravings were found in the Sahara Desert. Although they definitely depict giraffes, we don’t know much more about them. At 10,000 years old, this is a part of prehistory.
Nightmare fuel.
Known as the Old Gentleman of Raahe, this is the oldest surviving diving suit in the world. I would not have wanted to put this thing on.

This is what passenger planes looked like in 1930. The wicker seats were in place because of their light weight. I think I’d rather fly this than modern economy.

The massive plane in this pic is an Antonov An-225 Mriya, one of the largest to ever take to the skies. The other planes on the tarmac aren’t exactly small, but they’re still dwarfed by this behemoth.
