Hiring a wedding coordinator.

Take the time to consider who it is that you’re marrying.

Do not take any sedatives.
Right before the ceremony was due to begin, Reddit user gypsyg66 was feeling nervous and was given an anxiety pill to help her calm down. This made her feel groggy and unable to properly be in the moment.
Do away with what tradition dictates.
One of the only mistakes Redditor Etherealamoeba feels she made was the decision to allow her father to walk her down the aisle. He wound up leaving early and tried to make the day all about him.
Focus more on the honeymoon.

Hire a videographer.
They don’t come cheap, but Redditor CamFreshAir feels that it’s well worth the money to hire a videographer. The one and only regret she has from her big day is that there was no video footage of the ceremony.
Making fake friends bridesmaids.
When it comes to selecting your wedding party, there’s a lot of pressure to balance out the sides. Redditor baristabombista cautions against doing this and suggests keeping your wedding party to only close friends, regardless of how few they might be.
Remember to hydrate.
In all the hustle and bustle, it can be easy for a bride to forget to eat and drink throughout the day. Don’t allow yourself to get so dehydrated that you’re too nauseous or ill to be able to enjoy your dinner/reception.
At the very least, make sure to eat a piece of your own cake.

Make it about you and just elope.
Reddit user apugfart wishes that in lieu of the big wedding, that they’d gone to the courthouse and eloped. As someone with two sets of overbearing parents, this is a sentiment I can get behind.
Keep your plans to yourself.
Reddit user CatherineO1 says that you should never tell anyone what you plan to do. Rather, show them what you’ve already done.
Wedding planning opens the floodgates for unsolicited opinions, so be prepared for an earful if you allow others the opportunity to do so.
Get your photos in early.
If there’s one thing that Redditor ll_brandy recommends, it’s that you get your photos done prior to the ceremony. This way, you won’t miss cocktail hour and you’ll be able to spend more time with your guests.
Remember that the day is about you.

Don’t do a father/daughter dance for the entire length of the song.
For one thing, Reddit user zelam_27 says that it can feel both forced and awkward. It’s much better to gradually invite your wedding party and the rest of the guests onto the dance floor as the song progresses.
Arrange a late night shuttle.
You don’t want to be worrying about the possibility of guests getting behind the wheel after they’ve had too much to drink. Do what Reddit user jacmarko says and hire a shuttle service, if nothing else than for your own peace of mind.
