It can take a surprisingly long time before we realize we messed something up. Some situations, especially social ones, can look like we’re totally killing it…until we look over and see our friends uncomfortably shaking their heads with really wide eyes.
And while we’re at it, here’s a freebie from experience: If you finish a test an hour early and walk out of it like it was nothing, you’re gonna learn the hard way what you missed.
So because our mistakes hit a lot harder when we’re not ready for them, here are some signs that a situation’s gone sour.
1. To be fair, the mistake was probably more the fault of whoever made this girl cry than it is hers.
If she can learn anything from this, it’s not to talk to people who play with our emotions until after your date is over?
Unless the date does it, I guess.
2. Hmm, I get the feeling that somebody’s bae is about to sit them down for a long conversation about trust.
It doesn’t help that this thing is so dramatic about how it tells you this. Just say it’s locked up for 12 and a half days.
3. It may not be a rule that comes up much, but it’s helpful when it does. If a donkey’s airborne, it’s time to take some stuff off the cart.
Actually, am I right that somebody’s lying on it? That donkey probably hates them right now.
4. Lizards may be surprisingly cute and cuddly, but don’t let that fool you into thinking they’re not up to something.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen one get somebody with the circle game. Watch their hands, people. Or rather, don’t.
5. Apparently, it’s quite possible to fail an eye test, because this message says that louder than any letter grade ever could.
I do kind of love how it forces them to get right to the point, though. Can’t drone on when your text is that big.
6. Is it wishful thinking to hope that coming back to close the open top will force the driver to notice the other big mistake they made here?
If not, then I hope the weather dries up enough for someone to put a ticket on their windshield because this is disgraceful.
7. Oh…uh, I obviously showed up at the wrong party and I think they consider my intrusion very rude.
I mean, how mad does somebody have to be when they can furrow eyebrows that exist outside of their faces?
That is a suit, right? Did I discover something?
8. So, somebody apparently told their grandma to hit the reset button on this board, and this was how she interpreted that.
Although, I’m not sure how long a dart board that breaks when a dart hits the wrong part of it was going to last, anyway.

9. Sometimes, the worst thing you can do is nothing, and that definitely applies when you can finesse some cash out of an accident.
Actually, I guess this can work if you do nothing, but only if that part comes after you flop to the ground.
10. Ah, yes. Just because they’re technically made of the same materials, that doesn’t mean pasta is a substitute for cereal.
Some of you may roll your eyes at this obvious “lesson,” but it’s obvious that somebody didn’t get that memo here. Some people will just never get it right.
11. Haha, even the holiest among us can start to feel a little wrathful when somebody gets between us and our protective air conditioning.
I doubt that any evil place is gonna burn the thief more than this sign just did, though.
12. The fact that this man isn’t smiling and waving to people tells me that he’s starting to regret not asking what the “way back seat” was.
Like, they couldn’t even give him an improvised seat belt, huh? No wonder he’s grumpy. That’s disrespectful.
13. This may seem like a clever little fix, but I can’t help but wonder if the gas is gonna leak through that hole.
I’d check with an expert in terrible DIY gas cap replacements, but I think this is the closest we’re gonna get.
14. Man, I’m suddenly very glad that the dog never got to set our curfew growing up.
On the plus side, we’d have to come home before school finished, but we also couldn’t go literally anywhere else for more than 10 minutes.
15. Well, I guess it’s just as well that these ski boots shattered like this, right?
I mean, if it can’t take a little spill on some pavement, an entire mountain is just gonna laugh at it. And it’s never good when a mountain laughs.
16. I shudder to imagine the kind of creature that can tear through it like this, but the thought of someone trying to do this is even more terrifying.
At least werewolves can only mess with you on full moons. There’s no rest from a car butcher.
