When it comes to working from home during this pandemic, things can be rather stressful. For many individuals, working from home means working with their partner right beside them.
And then, there are those who have their entire families in isolation with them. It can be a messy situation when there are important meetings, calls, and presentations for work that need to happen during this entire pandemic.

Recently, one Reddit user went through a pretty tough situation with his wife and two-month-old baby.
Writing into the popular thread, “Am I The A**hole”, the user asked others if he was wrong for yelling at his wife for handing him their son in the middle of a very important Zoom meeting. He went into details about how things exactly went down.
First, he made it clear that he gave his wife a lot of notice about this very important call.
The dad wrote :
“Today at 12 I had to give a presentation about how our team is handling the crisis, and then give a proposal about a new product design. This was given to my boss, and the VP of engineering. It’s probably the most important meeting I’ve had in months, which isn’t really saying that much since most of them are useless but this one was actually important.”
He also made note that he reminded her the morning of.
“I told my wife beforehand about it, and reminded her this morning. Then [halfway] through she comes in with my son crying, hands him to me, and just leaves.
She not only left the room, but she left the house and didn’t take her phone. She didn’t come home for [four] hours.”
Of course, having a newborn baby in your lap during a presentation isn’t ideal.
He added that things were pretty hard after that.
“This threw the whole pace of the meeting off, I had to put him in his crib, and then had to keep an eye on him. Additionally, it stressed me out in the middle of an already stressful meeting, to my less-than-understanding boss,” the dad said in his post.
The dad made it clear when his wife returned home that he was angry.
He told her how angry he was. But, her response was that she, “needed a break”.
“She then said she ‘needed a break’, and I told her if she needed a break she could watch tv and zone out like a normal [expletive] human being instead of [expletive] off to god knows where leaving me stuck between a newborn and a judgmental boss,” the dad said.
The two bickered over the situation for a while.
The dad said they argued over “who does more work” in the house and eventually, his wife left to stay at her mother’s, leaving their two-month-old son behind with his dad.
While many people online had their opinions on the situation, one Reddit user said it was a red flag.
While postpartum depression after childbirth is common, this can be a huge red flag.
“Pro-tip: If your partner is reasonable in general and suddenly starts acting ‘irrationally’ a few weeks after having a baby, your first thought needs to be concern, not blame and anger.
I completely understand that OP’s stressed about work, but his wife is showing clear signs of mental illness,” one Reddit user said in a comment.
Others added in that the way she acted was a huge cry for help.
One user said:
“Get the F off Reddit and get your wife some help! This is not an argument that needs to be won. Neither of you will be the victor here. She is very clearly suffering from PPD and you are using time to take your conflict to AITA on Reddit?”
Others chimed in saying he was asking the wrong questions on the site.
They wrote:
“You’re asking the wrong questions. What she did is not normal and people don’t do [expletive] like this for no reason. But instead being here looking for validation you should be trying to figure out what is going on with her that she did this.”
One mom even said that two months is when their own PDD kicked in.
“When my kid was 2 months my PPD kicked in hardcore, and I had moments of extreme irritation with my kid. If it weren’t for neighbors, friends, and my spouse, I don’t know how I would’ve made it. OP, Please try to figure out why your wife did this. Make a plan so it doesn’t get to this point again” the user said.
Overall, when things like this happen, it’s important to see the bigger picture.
Clearly, this was not a “normal” occurrence between the couple and it sounds like this mom is going through it. Dad should be looking for ways to help her — even if he has a busy schedule.
