It’s a special breed of person who loves a good horror movie. And yes, every once in a while I like a scary flick, but for the most part, I don’t need them in my life. However, I will admit that when a horror flick is done well, it’s pretty impressive.
The big problem for me is just how divorced from reality horror movies tend to be. But it would seem that, on occasion, real life is even scarier. Some folks think they’ve even captured a brush with a terrifying reality on camera. What do you think?
1. Just a normal, ho-hum family picture that the dog can’t quite sit still for, until you look at the window in the background. Is someone looking in?
And there goes tonight’s sleep.
2. Okay, this was a pretty odd selfie to begin with — apparently he cut up a spiny rubber ball for jokes — but the lady lurking behind him wasn’t even there.
And she looks like she’s wearing clothes from another era.
3. You almost expect to get some kind of spooky story when you buy an older house, right?
Apparently this house is home to several spirits , one of which stays on the second floor, floating about in her wedding dress.
4. Even without ghosts roaming around in the dark, a children’s cemetery is a pretty depressing place.
But there, right in the middle of the pic, you can make out a small, faint outline of a figure next to one of the graves.
5. Much like the guy with the spiny ball on his head, this kid took a picture of himself and captured more than he bargained for.
Even considering that the camera appears to be in motion, that’s a pretty person-like form.
6. Aren’t all prisons haunted? They certainly are uncomfortable places in general.
At this prison’s guard tower, there is supposedly only one person in the room, yet two appear in the windows.

7. Here’s a weird one. It’s a pretty normal pic of a woman showing off a sweet treat.
But if you look at the reflection behind her, you can see the back of someone’s head sitting in the chair that’s clearly empty beside her.
8. Of all the things to get a notification from your doorbell cam about, this one will wake you right up.
I think seeing some creep wander up to my door in the middle of the night would be better than drinking an entire pot of coffee.
9. These three pictures were taken seconds apart, looking down a hallway on The Queen Mary ship.
For just a blip, there’s a figure down at the far end, and then just like Keyser Söze, it’s gone.
10. I have a hard time believing that the silhouette over the shoulders of these kids is simply a trick of the light.
Or the shadows, for that matter. And the way the whites of her eyes light up? Freaky.
11. There would be a “For Sale” sign on my front lawn in a heartbeat if a motion sensor camera in my house caught this image.
Even if it’s not a ghost, there might be someone living there without my knowledge. No thanks.
12. Taken for a real estate listing, we might know why this house would be up for sale.
Apparently the owner had two cats, both of which passed and were never replaced. And yet, you can see the face of one cat by the screen door, and the outline of another near the BBQ.
13. Some haunted tours go through pretty creepy places, like this former sanitarium.
Even if they’ve staged it ahead of time, setting up a tricycle in a long abandoned hallway is an effective touch.
14. Seeing animatronics from happier times abandoned and gone to ruin would be sad if it wasn’t so horrifying.
Where once this would have played for a kid’s birthday party, all the fun is long gone, replaced by robot nightmares.
15. For her first car, this girl went the unorthodox route of buying a haunted car.
If you look at the driver’s seat, it looks like the ghost of someone with long hair is sitting there. I don’t know about you, but I see it, and it is not right.
16. I don’t want to speculate too much on why these kids were digging — maybe for buried treasure, maybe something less adventuresome — but it sure looks like something is watching from the woods.
Or someone.
17. If you think this is a pic of an alien or a ghost haunting a field, you’re not alone.
Of course, it’s not — it’s the result of printing on the wrong side of photo paper — but it sure is creepy.
18. Most folks want to share their ultrasound pics to show off the impending joy coming into their lives.
However, this one you have to share because it looks like the second coming of Rosemary’s baby.
19. Residents of Prague get to enjoy the view of babies crawling up the side of a TV tower.
There’s something very Trainspotting about it, don’t you think? I kind of expect their heads to turn around at any second.
20. This papier-mâché girl only gets sadder when you hear why it’s there.
“Mom missed my sister so much when she moved out, she simply made another one,” wrote the poster. “Now she can never leave.”
21. You won’t soon forget riding on a bus where the driver has replaced the top of his shifter with a baby doll’s head.
Seeing it jiggle around as the bus rattles and shakes must be a fun experience.
22. “I took this picture about 6 years ago in a power plant in Texas,” wrote Reddit user TyTriplett.
“We were doing electrical testing on night shift. It started as an orb floating around and turned into this.” That green glow adds an extra eerie factor.
23. I don’t know if somebody wrote out all this Satanic-looking gibberish as a prank, but it seems like an awful lot of work just for jokes.
And apparently there’s more writing on the other walls here, too.
24. Not sure if the face that showed up in the mirror behind these ladies is a mask on the wall or something, but there are only supposed to be two people in that room.
And it sure looks like a third put in an appearance.
