An alphabet book is pretty much a staple in a toddler’s home. If you grew up with one, and maybe still have it buried in a box in the attic, then you know the books are filled with common words to help children memorize and remember the order of the alphabet.
However, as we get older and increase our vocabulary, we know the spelling of words isn’t so clear cut all the time. Plenty of words start with silent letters or certain letters even sound like words. It’s all so complicated, and one alphabet book is demonstrating exactly that.
American rapper Lushlife, AKA Raj Haldar, and computer programming friend Chris Carpenter created *The Worst Alphabet Book Ever.* No, seriously.

The two were inspired to create the hilariously relatable book after visiting a mutual friend’s house and flipping through their child’s alphabet book, which chose the word “quinoa” to represent the letter Q.
Their alphabet book is filled with cruel and torturous words even adults have difficulty with.

These words were carefully chosen and narrowed down from a long Google document that the co-author pair created together, choosing words that begin with silent letters and other silly workarounds for words that don’t have a silent starting letter.
Each letter is accompanied by a cute and funny illustration by Maria Beddia, as well as a quirky sentence to go with the letter and capture the silly spirit of the book.

While kids learn difficult words, adults get a kick out of how truly ridiculous the English language can be.
This is actually a great gift for new parents who will absolutely enjoy it more than their children.

You can order it wherever you get your books for around $15, including Amazon , Barnes & Noble , and Target .
