Let’s be real: there’s something pretty irresistible about bragging about your home on Instagram. Whether it’s posting about a new piece of decor or a whole room makeover, it’s super fun to post about your stuff! Or to browse other people’s for inspiration.
Let’s get inspired to get your home in Instagram-shape! Don’t worry, it doesn’t have to stay that way.
Natural textures are very important.
Rattan is EVERYTHING on Instagram right now. Anything in a light wood, rattan, or bamboo will work perfectly. You can find any of that at a thrift store, or at any Home Goods.
Get you some big plants.
No one does plants like Instagram plant lovers do. If you’re really dedicated, get real ones! If you’re more into the aesthetic, get fake ones. Ikea can hook you up with both.
Decant your pantry goods into jars.
Or storage, or whatever you want! It sounds strange, but moving dried goods into jars really helps keep you organized. I would highly recommend it.
Get some at the Container Store .
Picture rails. Get some.
Not only is this super Instagram-friendly, it’s a totally easy way to cheat at getting your large art up on the walls without having to hang any of it. Score. Get some for cheap at Ikea .
Something gold is key.
Don’t go overboard, but having some gold in a room definitely chics it up. I’d go for a gold frame, or gold legs on a table, chairs, or a sofa.
Velvet is key.
Velvet textures are all the rage, and for good reason: they’re soft. They’re stunning. And they’re so comfortable. I love the velvet trend and I am fully dying for a velvet couch.
Upgrade your couch.
Want to upgrade your old couch? Don’t want to buy a new one? No problem. Adding legs and a new slipcover can instantly change your couch’s whole look. Try Pretty Pegs .
Go for a bold accent wall.
Contrast is key with Instagram-ready rooms. A bold accent wall with a matte color will really bring the whole room together.
Put some wallpaper on it.
Much like the painted accent wall, a wallpapered wall will grab a ton of attention on Instagram. But more importantly, it’ll look amazing in person!
Paint unexpected items and turn them into decor.
Interesting trinkets are the hallmark of an Instagram-ready room. I have plastic dinosaurs painted in my house! The great thing with this DIY is that it’s infinitely re-doable. If you start to hate the color of your object, simply change it!
Mirrors are key.
And they do not have to be expensive at all. Big mirrors that lean are still in, but the new hotness for Instagram is circular mirrors. You can get some at Ikea !
Interesting lighting is key.
Whether it’s a ceiling light or a lamp, interesting lighting is really important to a gorgeous room. These lamps are available at Target ! I want one.
Swap out old fixtures.
It’s time, and we all know it. New faucets don’t have to break the bank to really make a massive impact on a room. The more interesting looking they are, the better.
You’re going to need some string lights.
Everyone has string lights on Instagram. Everyone. They’re great for mood lighting at night! Either string them up, or put them in a jar to give yourself some ambience.
Bonus points: mix them in with your curtains.
